Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it.
-- Margaret Fuller

A man's character may be learned from the adjectives which he habitually uses in conversation.
-- Mark Twain

As long as you keep a person down, some part of you has to be down there to hold him down, so it means you cannot soar as you otherwise might.
-- Marian Anderson

Beauty, truth, friendship, love, creation – these are the great values of life. We can't prove them, or explain them, yet they are the most stable things in our lives.
-- Jesse Herman Holmes

Dreams are renewable. No matter what our age or condition, there are still untapped possibilities within us and new beauty waiting to be born.
-- Dr. Dale Turner

The little daughter
of the Greens,
growing up;
for her
it is time
to learn about
the birds and the bees...

She watches
her mother,
alongside,
flowering forth
encompassing
all around her,
nurturing
more fruit,
amidst fresh green
every spring.

And the little one,
now tall enough,
bare,
but not
yet pubertal,
looks up,
and asks the blue sky,
"When will it be my time
to bring forth my own ?..."

The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not. - Mark Twain

Thanks for some more beautiful pictures and wonderful quotes. All too often I feel Mark Twain was absolutely correct with that second quote. I hope you're having a great weekend.

I always start out these wonderful posts of yours, by thinking, "Oh I love that photo!...and that quote!" But then there's the next one, and the next one...until I am fed visually and emotionally.
Thanks for another lovely post!

That Mark Twain! Now I'm going to be listening to every conversation to think about people's adjectives. (Seriously, I really do understand what he meant ;>). And then the last one -- so now I have to go drink green tea, run a couple of miles and eat ? 'hmm -- actually there's hardly any food I don't like, so that one won't work!

Ha ha -- anyway, this was a fun post and the pictures as always are beautiful.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
