Many of you have asked what kind of tree it is and from what information I've been able to get, it's in the maple family, but that's all I know. I happened to see it as I was driving through a neighborhood near our house and it was so stunning I just had to snap a picture.
I can't get past The Cunning Runt's comment. What a riot!
I think the tree is a Japanesse Maple. One of those with a difficult to prounce name. They're exquisite every time of year. Those particular leaves are so lacy and delicate, and they dry beautifully for use in a fall arrangement.
Acer Palmatum Red Dragon lace leaf, commonly refred to as the Japanese Maple. It is a stunning example of this slow growing tree. This example would be a a good few decades old.
Thanks for sharing. I had one in my garden in the UK and I miss it.
