One of the really lovely places to visit in Oregon is the Canby Dahlia Festival. Acres of gorgeous Dahlias, all different kinds, sizes, colors. It's breathtaking! Here are just a few examples. Hope you enjoy! Guess you can tell I'm already tired of cold weather!

a return to summer, how delightful to see flowers in bloom. although we do have a few hardy blooms outside in our anniversary garden.

ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite memories is walking through Dahlia fields in Oregon. Many of the flowers were taller than I am. They were every color imaginable. Absolutely breathtaking. I took a HUGE bouquet back to the resort with us to cheer me the entire week. I bought one that was the size of a dinner plate with about four different colors in it.

How do they do those ginormous fields, anyway. Do they have to dig up each individual bulb to replant the next year... or can they leave them in the ground in Oregon? We have to dig them up here and store them in Pete in a cool dry spot or over the winter.
