  7. Along with December 7, September 11 will be a date that goes down in infamy. Both were sad days for our country. Thank you for this lovely tribute to the families of 9/11.

  9. What a wonderful moment, in that photo.

One of the things I really loved about visiting America this summer was all the flags. In most countries the national flag hangs at government offices perhaps but that's it; in the US, wow, it's everywhere. Seeing them hanging off front porches and houses was especially moving. I loved it.

One thing we talked about too, while walking 'round the yard sales (it quickly became a favourite pasttime!) was how everyone's flag looked so fresh and clean. In Ireland, even the public flags are often dirty and torn--it's as if they come from the factory that way. We have a burger place in our town that flies the flag and it's a raggy disgrace.

Peace, Sylvia! I hope you have a beautiful, peaceful, event-free weekend to enjoy!

  10. That photo which I have as an 8 x 10 in a frame on my desk is very special to me. I almost used it today also but we had a 9-11ceremony in Vancouver this morning and I used photos from that instead. . . I hope you will drop by and see it.

    God bless America!

  13. Sylvia,

I hope that the tragedy of that fateful day will live on in the lives of those left behind. I also hope that we find unity of mind and purpose, representing the spirit of our nation everyday.
