That's My World - Autumn in Seattle

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy and Louise. It's a wonderful opportunity for you to share the beauty, the fun -- the whatever! of your world with others from all over "our world". Click here to sign up and join the fun!

The clouds and the rain rolled back into Seattle this weekend -- yes! just in time for the long Labor Day weekend! Ah, well, Autumn in Seattle and in the northwest is a time of extraordinary beauty and color and that's what I'm going to share with you today. Some were taken last year -- I just got over eager because I know what's coming.

All the color you could ever hope for!

Just a hint of fall above the harbor.

And a bit down near the beach! Another favorite place minutes from where we live.

And on a drive just outside the city.

And the last is this gorgeous Japanese Maple just around the corner from our house. A huge, leafy umbrella of a tree! (From last year)

  1. Wish we could see or feel a hint of fall around here....supposed to be 90 degrees AGAIN!

Beautiful scenery and that umbrella type of tree is way cool.

  3. I figured it out - you are on the payroll for the Seattle Chamber of Commerce - Tourist Division. Are you paid commission?
Well if not the pictures are great as always. That Japanese maple has had some great nourishment, sun, and tending, one amazing tree. I wonder how old it is. My guess 30-40 years

  7. Sylvia! That Japanese Maple is so wonderful! I do have a question--are these photos from this year or a previous one? Is autumn really that advanced already in Seattle?

I've been struggling a bit with homesickness for New Hampshire just now as the season starts to change. Here in eastern New Mexico I've only seen one tree starting to turn a little golden. I remember in our little New Hampshire town there was a huge maple on the main street with one branch that turned scarlet just as school started--a sign of things to come.

On the other hand, the jays and the crickets here sound exactly the same as back East, and their message is...just wait, changes are coming!

  10. Clariz and the rest of you. I should have said that some of these were taken last year. We are seeing some colors now, but nothing like they'll be in a few weeks. I just got excited when I saw some yellow and orange colors peeking out when I was at a park near the harbor!

  13. Wow! I so love the foliage! Beautiful colors. We are still in the 80's and 90's after the 3 digit temps the past weeks. Sigh. I will just enjoy my eyes with your beautiful photos.

  14. Fall does seem a little early but maybe it's only my reluctance to embrace the winter that follows. What a wonderful maple tree!

  15. I love seeing photos of fall. Autumn here just means the high temperature may be the low 80's instead of the low 90's. Very little color change and how I miss it! Thanks for sharing!
