Weekend Reflections

Weekend Reflections is hosted each week by James at Something Sighted. If you'd like to join the fun then click on the icon and sign up! It begins at 11AM each Friday!

The first shot is a reflection I caught at the zoo last spring when my son took me to one of my favorite places -- the zoo! If you look closely you may be able to see the rhino snoozing in the shade! What a great day it was!

This one is another one that I took last week at the bird sanctuary.

  6. Basically I feel the same way -- I don't like zoos -- but this zoo has made a real effort to create a natural habitat for the animals and you don't see them in cages. Even those are not necessarily desirable, but considering how many animals are endangered, it may be the only way of saving a great number of them. So, it is a beautiful place, the animals roam around very large enclosures surrounded by water and woodlands. You don't see cages, fences, wires, just a very lovely, serene place.

  10. and another rhino or 2 in the distance!
One argument for zoos, is that they help people to care about animals. This zoo space looks large and homey.
The second photo make me fell very peaceful!
hope you are having a wonderful weekend, Sylvia!

  11. Sylvia -- a nice post and the comments were quite interesting as we are battling with our conscieinces lately about "how do we really feel about zoos with what we've learned lately." I assume that is the Seattle zoo you're picturing here and I agree with you that it is one of the good ones for the reasons you mention.

  17. Nice reflection shots. I must say that zoo is the one of the best places to appreciate nature and animals. I have been to Al Ain Zoo last week and it was fun.
