That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? Here are some of those things from my world today.

As I posted earlier, I was unable to go camping this weekend, but considering our weather it's just as well -- Adam came home last evening after having spent only one night! It rained the whole time they were there making hiking or sitting around a campfire less than desirable in spite of the fact that the camper has a roll out awning. It was just plain cold and wet! But he did take some shots for me share with you!

Camping is nature's way of promoting the motel business. ~ Dave Barry

The ultimate camping trip was the Lewis and Clark expedition. ~ Dave Barry

It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent. ~ Dave Barry
Or on a camper for that matter!

The new camper folds up to a very compact size and no one would think that it has a king size bed on one end and a queen size on the other. It has a U shaped couch with a table for eating, but the table can be taken outside as well. There is a two burner stove, a covered grill that fits on the outside, a fridge, a sink and an amazing amount of cabinet and storage space. There is also a shower and a commode. But even with all these amenities it didn't make the weather that much easier to deal with!

The camper before he left.

And at the campground in the process of setting up.

  1. That's closer to real camping than what we usually do.

  3. Nothing like being one with nature.

  4. Those quotes are so funny! I'm not much of a camper either - and definitely not in rain!

Here's hoping your back has improved.

  6. I'm glad you can see the bright side of not camping last weekend, Sylvia. :) Isn't it surprising how much room a fold-up camper has once pulled out?

  7. I enjoyed the camping shot but am sorry your back was bothering you and you weren't able to go. I looked back over your posts and as always they are so good and filled with wonderful shots.

  8. Sylvia: That reminds me of the time that my wife agreed to go camping with friends. It rained the whole time and with 6 kids in the tent it was the last time she camped in a tent. She consider the Red Roof Inn going camping.

  9. Hi Sylvia. These campers are used a lot in this country and Europe. It is a little better than a tent when it rains. Sorry to hear about your back. Have a nice week.

  10. WOW! I can't believe you can get a queen AND a king size in that! Awesome! And, thanks for the Dave Barry quotes, I really needed those today!! Hope your back feels better soon!!

  11. Wow, I've never seen a camper like this cool. And I like those quotes you found, all but one as I enjoy the sound of rain when I'm safe and dry inside the tent.

  12. You are right about the rain on tents. I went camping with my daughter and the Guides in the middle of a heatwave, in fact we spent all afternoon watering newly planted trees on the site. Then it rained during the night......... the first rain for weeks!

  13. Ehy Sylvia,
sembra che questo camper debba essere ben rifornito e comodo !!
C'è posto anche per noi bloggers ?
    Buona giornata e buon viaggio...

  14. Tent equals rain is an interesting concept. There are a lot of places that can use a downpour!

  15. That's a very compact outfit. It's too bad about the weather. We've spent lots of time in campgrounds getting drenched. Love the Dave Barry quotes.

  16. nothing beats the beauty of nature.

  17. Me likey that camper of Adam's. Too bad the weather was uncooperative, but there's always next time! Looks like it was a fab spot to visit too.

  18. What beautiful light and colour of the trees. Must be indeed a great place to live.
Rain - liquide sunshine ;) Please have you all a good Tuesday.

  20. it's a lovely camper, and I'm glad you guys enjoy, but the first Dave Barry quote so sums up my enthusiasm for roughing it.

    What, no room service?

  21. I used to love to go camping, and it looks like you've got some great areas for that. I'd love to have a camper like that but I just slept in a tent, one which rainstorms would travel thousands of miles to find :)

  22. The top shot shows an amazing spot, just look at that tree! Is it a path? Would love to walk there.

    ReplyDelete
  23. JM, there is a path there and it's a great place to walk! As that tree was growing, so we were told, there were others in it's path and in order to reach the sunlight, it bent outwards and then up again. It is a beautiful area.

  24. It is a gorgeous area, the trees are magnificent in your neck of the woods, Sylvia.
I see we are sharing the same stormy weather ;)

  25. Such fun stuff, Sylvia! Barry is right about storms and tents.

    Have a great week!

  26. Adam got some good shots. Camping is great, but no fun in the rain...

  27. I wonder why more people can't go camping, oftener! The rains would have given a totally different feel to your moments.

  28. Looking for a beautiful place like the one you show us here to go camping Sylvia.

  29. Those little tent campers are so cool. I slept in one in the past and it was very comfortable, but it wasn't raining that day/night.

  30. enjoyed your pics today, When I as a kid my parent had almost the same pop-up. We had some fun vacations in that thing!

  31. Lovely shots, makes me want to go camping. Have a great week ahead. :)

  32. I am with Mr Barry on camping.
Though, I wish I enjoyed it more because it looks a beautiful spot in the woods. Even in the rain. The sound of rain on the trees is so lovely. (we haven't had much of that for too long!)

  33. I moved from NYC to a rural area a few months ago. It feels like I'm camping 24/7, just living at home.

    ReplyDelete
  34. would have loved to be out there!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh I do agree, Sylvia that rain will travel many miles to rain on a tent (and campers!) Wow, what an amazing camper you have. I looks huge yet very compact when being towed. Is is an "off-road" model. The forest and campgrounds look so lush and wild. Pity about the weather. I hope you all get to go out again this summer. Blessings from Jo

  37. that's a cool camper! i wish i have something like that.:p i once slept in a tent by the beach in the middle of summer, and i woke up to a rainstorm! rain water soaked everything including my sleeping bag.:(

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hopefully next time will bring better weather. That camper has a lot of amenities for something that small!

please join me on My Path

  39. That sure is a fancy camper. LOL, when we go camping, we only have a tent, and blow up matresses. Everything has to fit into our little two seater Smart car!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. That little flat thing turns into an entire apartment? Now that's nifty.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Sylvia, your quotes really made me smile! The pictures are beautiful and I can't believe that a complete home is hidden in that little package. Hope for you all that the weather has some friendly days in store and you can enjoy this wonderful camper.

  42. It must be fun sleeping in a camper. i have never been in one. My husband says it slows down the car. We did once try to sleep in the car, and that wasn't comfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love your wonderful photos and it´s exciting to camp! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. A little bit of rain is part and parcel of camping, it makes you appreciate the sunshine so much more. Especially if you have to cart the sodden tent on your back as well.

Hope you at least are having a good week.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hi Sylvia! Amazing! Always got rain in tents... ;)

Blogtrotter Two is back to the sea... ;). Make the most of it and have a spectacular week ahead!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh very interesting to see how the camper open up. I would love camping in one.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hope your back is getting better -- and oh Sylvia you HAVE to go camping in that darling popup! I just love it. Go when your back is better and the weather is sunny (Oh I know you live in Seattle, but it will happen!)
I did enjoy the Dave Berry quotes though even if I always loved camping. Rain and tents -- kind of like hurricanes and trailers ;>)

  48. Awesome shots. Love the funny anecdotes. I've never seen a camper like that too. Very cool.

Have a great week. Thanks for stopping by my page. :)

  49. I want one of these! I only have one small tent. It is shown in my Bird blog. Easy to use but yours would be nice.

  52. I am a fiar weather camper only, not one of those "blue tarp campers". I couldn't believe it rained on Seafair weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  53. This is a pretty neat camper. Now if it could only control the weather!

  54. Very nice camper post. Like everyone else here I'd like to give it a whirl!
