That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? The colors of autumn are always breathtaking here in the northwest -- even when the skies are gray and they have been gray much of the past week. Sometimes for various reasons, one has to look a bit harder for the beauty in their world, but I have discovered that it is always there if you take the time and truly want to see the beauty. The ugly stuff is always there, too, but just as you can open your eyes to the beauty, you can close them to the ugly. It's knowing that the choice is yours that is important!

Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.
I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn’t know.  — Mark Twain

The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also.  — Mark Twain

I've lived through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.
Mark Twain

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. — Mark Twain

When we remember we are all mad, the mysteries disappear and life stands explained.

  1. I love the soft turning of the leaves before they really accelerate and explode into golden loveliness. Wonderful sunsets too in your part of the country.

  3. Fall in your world has arrived with beautiful autumn colors. I'm so jealous, Sylvia!
I have to travel hundreds of miles to see that kind of colorful fall display.

  5. It looks like autumn has come to your part of the world, even at sea level. Here it has yet to make its way down from the higher elevation where snow has already robbed it of some of its color.

  6. Beautiful photos again, Sylvia. I've now almost completely forgotten how many times I've been stuck in traffic on the I-5 while driving through Seattle, and only remember the fun I've had when visiting your city rather than getting through it on the way to Oregon or California.
However, I can never seem to make up my mind which I enjoy more, your photos or the Mark Twain quotations. Wonderful, wonderful, especially "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry..."
Thanks so much, and thank you also for your encouragement during my first attempt at Microfiction. I think, between me and thee, we've got me hooked.

  14. The fall colors are amazing!!

Here, in my area of Eastern Washington, the colors are limited. We don't have to go more than a couple hours away to see them, but it isn't a daily thing.

I especially like the quote on the second to last photo - so true! :D

  18. Hi Silvia; I am back admiring your beautiful scenery. Autumn seems to be on the march colouring the leaves before they fall. I am a big fan of Mark Twain's philosophy. I would have loved him at my dinner table.

I have a problem with my right arm, and I can't work in gardening anymore.... 3 children and no helps...!we are 42 years old, and already to "old" for this coutry :( Sometimes not even the photography make me better.
