Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself. — Mark Twain |
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. — Mark Twain (The Innocents Abroad/Roughing It) |
Don't look at the world with your hands in your pockets. To write about it you have to reach out and touch it. — Mark Twain |
Many public-school children seem to know only two dates--1492 and 4th of July; and as a rule they don't know what happened on either occasion. — Mark Twain |
I must have a prodigious amount of mind; it takes me as much as a week, sometimes, to make it up! — Mark Twain |
It is easier to stay out than to get out. — Mark Twain |

That 3rd photo is perfect along with the quote! And every photo as well...have a lovely week!

You have much more color remaining than we do -- thanks for sharing it with us. I really like your first picture.
ReplyDeleteYour world is really colourful and beautiful. The entrance on the third photo is absolutely stunning. I love the combination of plants and colours.

ReplyDeleteAgain, thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove the color in the photos and you don't have to woory I'm not going to run for Congress LOL
ReplyDeleteSylvia your world is so beautiful with all the autumn colors. Gray skies don't matter with all the colors of the leaves. Great quotes as usual.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always: I repeat myself! I wholeheartedly agree with this statement of Mark Twain: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.". That's why this meme is so important.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week, Sylvia!
Such lovely pictures - and I enjoyed the accompanying music!
ReplyDeleteLove Mark Twain's remark about reaching out and touching the world. By the look of your pretty photos, you do that quite frequently. :)

ReplyDeleteCiao Myriam :))
Your world is decked out in her autumn's best. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your interesting comment on my MWT post. I didn't know you worked for a Japanese company and studied Japanese, it sounds fascinating! So many beautiful fall colors in your world this week. So true what Twain says about travel to broaden people's views of the world. I wonder what he would have thought about the World Wide Web.
ReplyDeleteI just want to to know how much I enjoy a glimpse into your mountainous and beautiful Seattle world.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sylvia, for letting see it through you eyes.
be well, be Happy ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful contrasts your world provides: brilliant sunshine with wonderful fall colours and dark November days . . .
ReplyDeleteThe light in the picture with the blue house is just amazing, such a beautiful capture!
May there be sunshine in your days, hugs and blessings . . . Arija
I love the front yard of the house. I will send you my sunshine to your grey skies. I can't believe it was 85 degrees over the weekend here.
ReplyDeleteBut the misty weather adds mystery.
Enjoy your week!
It's the rare, sunny day this time of year that can lift the spirit like nothing else. Your photos are beautiful, Sylvia! Have a good week!

ReplyDeleteSuch terrific shots, I wish I had the time to stare all day.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and perfect quotes too. :)
What a beautiful rock garden you have, Sylvia! I have been trying to make something like that for years. I like Mark Twain- his books are interesting even now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always, Sylvia. Even the ones with gray skies are lovely. Do you still have that much color in your area, or are those first three photos older?
ReplyDeleteAl, there are some areas that still have an amazing amount of color -- well, they won't after today as we've had very strong winds and it's blowing away pretty much all of the color that was left. The first three were taken a couple of weeks ago. But as you can see from the foggy ones, there has still been a lot of color. Thanks as always for your visit/comment! Always appreciated!
ReplyDeleteSylvia

ReplyDeletegreat shots, Sylvia! Such beautiful autumn colors! We actually don't have those changing of the leaves season here so I find autumn/fall quite interesting. have a good week!
ReplyDeleteYour world really is so special, Sylvia, and you are special for seeing it all and sharing it. Twain sure hit the nails on all heads with this set of quotes! Couldn't agree more with every single one of them! See you later! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat landscapes you have captured, especially the bushes and color by the steps!
ReplyDeleteMark Twain is so right about travel. Lovely scenes these are!

ReplyDeleteThe colors are so pretty. Beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteHi Sylvia...Your world is full of Fall colors and every photo showing off a breathtaking view. Mark Twain sure had a way with words. I like the way you've used his quotes. Thanks for stopping by my Macro Monday post...I viewed yours as well...enjoyed that one, too. You have several Memes I've not seen before. I had a busy day yesterday with not much time on the PC...so I've got to catch up on visiting. Have a great week ...Sue
ReplyDeleteNice to see some color - ours is mostly gone now.
ReplyDeleteSylvia, I'm in love with the yard on the third photo! It's AWESOME! Great 'garden scaping'! (I don't know if this expression exists, but I'm sure you know what I mean! LOL!)
