We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves. Buddha
We cast a shadow on something wherever we stand. E. M. Forster
I don't need a friend who changes when I change and who nods when I nod; my shadow does that much better. Plutarch
The shadowy lamp...is it asking me to turn it on so that some mysterious dark light can shine...or is it content to fade away as day becomes night?
ReplyDeleteSHADOWY DINNER
A shadow, a shadow, a shadow you say?
A shadow is coming to dinner today?
Oh, what shall we feed it, and what will it eat?
Just toss down a few rays of light at its feet,
And watch its dark mouth gobble up every ray,
But be sure, my friend, you don’t get in its way;
Keep out of the light so it won’t gobble you.
(If I were the hostess, that’s just what I’d do.)
A shadow is easy to feed, so they say,
So welcome your shadow to dinner today.

Shadows here and there
Love the lacy shadows of curtains, I suspect. The amber color in the room is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you got some sunshine for a change, Sylvia!
Enjoy the weekend.
The shot of the room with the amber curtain and it ripping light is a beautiful one, and the shadows after that are superb.Lovely photos this week. genie

Excellent framing a beautiful play of light and shadows, very attractive. I wish you a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteSylvia, these are so beautiful. The tree casts a curtain over the house and then you bring the shadows of the curtains and walk down the passage on them. Very clever arrangement indeed. The sequence works perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI wish you lots more sunny days withe delightful shadows.
look at that huge shadow of the tree...pretty!! Love your other two as well Sylvia - Shadows in the house are always fun to spot! The sun has been out this week, so we are taking advantage to outdoor shadows of late!! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is the first photo - I love houses like that and trees!!

Very nice shadows, Sylvia. Isn't interesting what attracts us? I like doing reflections for Friday's Weekend Reflections and you like doing shadows and skies.

Love your shadows and the wise words that go with them
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely shadow shots! Especially loved the effect of the tree's shadow in the first shot.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead!
I love the last shot with the shadow on the floor. It is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast between indoor and outdoor shadows. The inside ones seem to set a mood, and give an air of mystery or gravity to the photos that doesn't come across in the bright sunny outdoors.
ReplyDeleteA stellar series of images and quotes to go with it! You've outdone yourself this week, m'dear!!
ReplyDeleteBrava!
