In Memory of David Kirkwood

 Father, Friend, Olympic Silver Medal Winner, Actor
The Pentathlon of Life

He came into her life
riding his steed,
and carried her away
to different lands.

Fencing,
finessing with Foils,
Rattling the Sabre
at life
he charged cross country,
through land and water,
with a pistol
at the ready,
his aim always exact

And the five stars
of his life ,
Big star Sylvia and 4 little stars
applauded
as life was decorated with silver
on an
international  podium.

Thousands of moons later,
Silver now adorned the chin,
The Microbial Épéé
targeted the whole body;
and he gave
a great and spirited fight
encouraged by
his 5 stars
from across the country

He stands now
on a podium of the Mind;
smiling at his stars,
eyes full,
trying to capture it all
on the camera of his mind.
His final cross-world run
to the
Big Field.

Ride on, David Kirkwood,
an honor awaits;
a medal awaits;
A medal for a great friend and father,
around your neck,
in Gold.....

  1. What a beautiful, simply gorgeous bride you were! That smile is still unforgettable, Sylvia. And your husband resembles your youngest son. Mahalo for the memories.
