“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and
fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you
know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says "Go to sleep, darlings, till
the summer comes again.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass |

“Winter is the time for comfort, for good
food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the
fire: it is the time for home.”
― Edith Sitwell |

“What good is the warmth of summer, without
the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
― John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
“A cold wind was blowing from the north, and
it made the trees rustle like living things.”
― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones |

ReplyDeleteSuch wonderful and apt quotations to go with your fabulous photos.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos - I especially like the one of the snow-capped mountains across the water. I think they might be part of the Olympic Mountains??? Thanks for sharing. Keep warm and dry!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photography and wonderful quotes as always ~ thanks!
ReplyDeleteWishing you peace in your week ~ ^_^
A very little sun is better than nothing. Actually that is about what we have had here in Florida this past week; it is much rainier than usual (and as you know only too well we could have had that kind of weather if we'd stayed in Oregon). Again, as always your archive pictures are so beautiful; of course I don't mind seeing them, they cheered me up. And also again, as always, thank you for hosting both of my favorite memes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots Sylvia! I love seeing the tree silhouettes against the sky.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Sylvia. Seattle is one of my favorite cities, but I think the grey, rainy winters would get to me - I love my winter sunshine. I hope you have a great week!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful world !
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear the ol' sun decided to shine once again up that away. And your photos of Seattle are always welcome. I've never thought it mattered one bit when a photo was taken. If you've got some good ones of 20 years ago, post 'em!
ReplyDeleteThese are good ones. Hope you enjoy your day!
Beautiful....and really liked the Sitwell quotation today.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views of the sky. Lovely cloud formations.
ReplyDeleteAll are different and all so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour world is beautiful every day of the year, rain or shine. The mountains in the background are just heavenly. All are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI loved reading Steinbeck when I was in high school. Maybe I should revisit him. Coming from California the books always felt like home. - Margy
