That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and share your world with others from all over Our World! Just click on the post title, read the rules, sign up and play with us! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for?  I do think I'm down to the last few days of waiting to move! Just one more piece of paper to prove that I'm not a dangerous, crazy old broad -- well, at least not dangerous!
Wine is constant proof that God loves us and loves to see us happy.
Benjamin Franklin
This shot and the next two were taken on the usual gray day at the Arboretum, but these old, twisted trunks were so interesting to me. I look forward to going back once the sun returns and sit for a while and enjoy the beauty -- the sun will return won't it?????

Her neck
wiry translucent
with
the lines
of a golden age,
light
wisps of
baby leaved twigs
falling
across her crown,
in anticipation
of an imminent spring,
she reaches out
to the
different
young branches
off
her life.

A touch here,
a call there,
a smiling email,
and
she brushes
a light hand
across her neck,
as she gets up.

Although
she thinks
she is moving
elsewhere
she still
remains
anchored
firmly,
below
to
the same land
with the same memories .

Politics have no relation to morals.
Niccolo Machiavelli
Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.
John F. Kennedy

One of the reasons people hate politics is that truth is rarely a politician's objective. Election and power are.
Cal Thomas

Only government can take perfectly good paper, cover it with perfectly good ink and make the combination worthless.
Milton Friedman

  7. Ha … ha, when reading the quote from Benjamin Franklin, I suspect he enjoyed a glass of wine now and then. Also, the tree trunk is incredible. Its vast twists and turns are gorgeous. The one wrapping itself around a pole reminds me of a sci-fi flick where a monster overtakes an unsuspecting city!

  19. Great shots, Sylvia. I absolutely love that first one - the blue and white of the water, and the blue and white of the sky and distant mountains, they complement each other perfectly!

  23. You did a fabulous job this week with your quotations. They were all very prophetic. The pictures are gorgeous. The skies, the tree, and the white capped waves are all beautiful captures.

  24. Awesome tree pics! As Indrani says, survivor trees can teach us something about the tough business of getting along with the world.

  25. I like your tree trunks. They have such expressions. I also like the Kennedy quote. Whatever people think of him as a person they have to admit that he had huge leadershop and inspirational talents.

  26. I like your choice of quotes today. Does that make me a cynic or a realist or perhaps a bit of each?

  37. Sylvia, they are amazing trees! One of them looks as if it were lonely,so it coiled a pole. Does the tree have will?
The sceneries of the sea and sunset are so peaceful and serene, touching my heart very much. Thank you for sharing.

  39. So many truths in your quotes Sylvia.
The problem is we make humor with what the politicians do, to forget the impact of what they do.
    Love your world and photographs.
