Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. ~Kahlil Gibran

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. ~Confucius

As we grow old, the beauty steals inward. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Wisdom is the abstract of the past, but beauty is the promise of the future. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Beauty isn't worth thinking about; what's important is your mind. You don't want a fifty-dollar haircut on a fifty-cent head. ~Garrison Keillor

The moon is like a mystery novel, the sun like a motivational self-help book, and the stars a coffee table book of photography. The sky is the whole library, and God the librarian. ~Pepper Giardino

The last picture(show)

She sits
by the window,
lost in
the memories
of life as a little girl
who played
thieves and robbers
with her brother....

Some other
thieves and robbers
have today
stolen
her future,
as she sits,
swaddled
head to toe
in black,
a veiled life.

The eyes dart
sensing
a sliver of light
as
she rubs her eyes
darkly enclosed....
No one is around,
just she herself
and
a dark, cloudy
sympathetic sky.

Quiet,
into the night,
the clouds smile and part,
the moon beckons,
swimming in an ocean
of grey;
She lifts the veil
slightly ,
smiles, and
feasts her eyes
on the stars;
Life must change,
for
she has seen
the guiding light
in a dark sky........

This is a beautiful post my friend. Very well done. The last two pictures I like equally. Magnificent :)

Another wonderful poem - but sad? or hopeful?
Has your first daffodil opened?

Isn't it too early for daffadils?

I see you got a conch too. When I was growing up in Borneo, there were a lot of Concil shells. Soon, there wasn't any more.

Collection of shells and stones was too much beauty for me to argue.

Lovely funny panda butt again, even though the act is familiar to me only from the movies.

Beautiful Sylvia. Every picture lovelier than the last! I have gotten behind on my reading and realize how much I've missed your evening reflections. Won't let that happen again!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
