Pet Pride

Hey, hey! Listen up, guys, it's time to head on over to Bozo's pad in Mumbai and it's going to be fun this week because, guess what? Yep, it's my birthday week! I'm going to be 7 years old on Wednesday!! How about that!! So, click on Bozo's name and sign up and come on over! Help me and Bozo and, yes, even Madame Mojo the Most -- celebrate!

Come on, admit it! I'm adorable! Right? Click on my pic to embiggen and look into my eyes!

Yeah, and while you're looking, check out his bottom teeth -- why someone didn't put braces on his teeth I'll never know. Fortunately, I don't have that problem, as you can easily see! Just the watchful protector of our castle! Wouldn't you feel safer with me around??? Certainly safer than if Sam was all you had!

Well, we bad mouth each other a lot, but we're actually pretty good buddies. Well, at least on birthdays -- wouldn't want to miss a treat, you know!! hee hee!!

Some things have to be believed to be seen. ~Ralph Hodgson, The Skylark and Other Poems

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

Attitudes are contagious. Are yours worth catching? ~Dennis and Wendy Mannering

Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures. ~H. Jackson Brown, Jr., Life's Little Instruction Book

Shadow Shot Sunday!

Time to chase the sun as it disappears into brooding fall skies! Shadows are harder to find these days in my part of the world, but they're there if you look hard enough and long enough!! Shadow Shot Sunday is hosted each week by Tracy at Hey Harriet. Click on her name and sign up and get obsessed with shadows like the rest of us!

Our sun comes in lower and at a different angle so I have to catch it at just the right time. This is one our favorite plants that I love taking shadow shots of, just because it nearly always provides a good one!

My African Violet was getting so hungry for sunshine I finally put it down in the one patch I could find -- on the floor! Go figure!

Our lonely watering can -- wondering when I'm going to take it inside with all the other garden stuff! I did -- yesterday!

And Sam Schnauzer reminiscing about warm summer days at the beach!

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other. ~Mother Teresa

~Seymour Miller & Jill Jackson, "Let There Be Peace on Earth," 1955

Cloudy
elbows across
the face,
the tired Sun,
squinting
at the
hovering bird,
blocks his eyes;

Now waiting
to sink
his turbulent
mind
into the cool
ocean waters,
to start
with a clean slate
another day...

He has seen
too much,
killing,
fighting,
jeering,
destruction
on his
daily route
across
the world.....

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind. ~Mahatma Gandhi

Today I bent the truth to be kind, and I have no regret, for I am far surer of what is kind than I am of what is true. ~Robert Brault,

Don't wait for people to be friendly, show them how. ~Author Unknown

The kindest word in all the world is the unkind word, unsaid. ~Author Unknown

Life
rolls on,
rising,
ebbing,
waves
holding hands
through
the
infinite blue;

Some obstacles
surmounted
together
in a brilliant
cheerful spray;
the happy rocks,
bathed,
under a warm sun,
playful birds
dodging
a cool sprinkle...

Lifes
little skirmishes,
now sweeter,
and cooling down
to exultant
relaxing waves,
humoring
each other
as they roll on
to rest ,
momentarily
on the
inviting sands.

Why Dogs Leave Home!!!

Photoshopped or real???? Who knows these days!!

Ever Wonder Why??

Why do pharmacies make the sick walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front.

Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries, and a diet coke.

Why do banks leave both doors open and then chain the pens to the counters.

Why do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway and put our useless junk in the garage.

Why do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER ...

Why the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin ?

Why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why is 'abbreviated' such a long word?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

You know that indestructible black box that is used on planes? Why don't they make the whole plane out of that stuff?!

Why don't sheep shrink when it rains?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

Why? Good question.

Sky Watch Friday!

Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus and the Sky Watch Team - Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy, Louise and me. Click here to sign up and share your lovely skies with us! See and enjoy breathtaking skies from all over the world!

Here in Seattle we had our usual marvelous variety as our skies celebrate the coming of another fall season. And no place are the skies more beautiful or varied than they are over the harbor.

And above the harbor!

The sunsets so wonderfully visible from our deck, as some of you know, continue to take my breath away, regardless of how frequently I watch them.

Enjoy! and may you all have a beautiful weekend!

Early Halloween Tips for Seniors

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:

You get winded from knocking on the door.

You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.

You ask for high fiber candy only.

When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

People say: 'Great Boris Karloff Mask,' and you're not wearing a mask.

When the door opens you yell, 'Trick or...' And can't remember the rest.

By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.

You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.

You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

And the number one reason Seniors should not go Trick Or Treating...

You keep having to go home to pee.

No matter, have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN anyway.

I but know that I love thee, whatever thou art. ~Thomas Moore

And now, more beautiful words from my dear friend in Mumbai.

Some dark,
some white,
fiery brown,
cool cream,
and every color
of this
wondrous earth;

The
staunchly united
pebbles,
enjoy the wait,
as the
water,
of the same ocean,
washes over them;
cleaning minds
and
scrubbing thoughts.

If only,
the bigger
more powerful
rocks,
listened...

Just one N word for me today and that is Nature! It is everywhere to be enjoyed, thrilled by, to take your breath away! Here are a few samples! These are all from Oregon and Washington -- obviously two of my favorite states!

This is Multnomah Falls on the Columbia River in Oregon!

Above the Harbor on Puget Sound.

Aspens on a lake in Oregon.

Sunset in Seattle!

Whidbey Island in Washington.

And nature's perfection in one small rose!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
