Shadow Shot Sunday!

Time to chase the sun as it disappears into brooding fall skies! Shadows are harder to find these days in my part of the world, but they're there if you look hard enough and long enough!! Shadow Shot Sunday is hosted each week by Tracy at Hey Harriet. Click on her name and sign up and get obsessed with shadows like the rest of us!

Our sun comes in lower and at a different angle so I have to catch it at just the right time. This is one our favorite plants that I love taking shadow shots of, just because it nearly always provides a good one!

My African Violet was getting so hungry for sunshine I finally put it down in the one patch I could find -- on the floor! Go figure!

Our lonely watering can -- wondering when I'm going to take it inside with all the other garden stuff! I did -- yesterday!

And Sam Schnauzer reminiscing about warm summer days at the beach!

Ah, you're the first one to have guessed what's in the hand of my shadow shot...it was coffee in a dispo glass. And I love your shadow of the sprinkler, well composed. Have a happy weekend Sylvia.

My daily dose of sunshine!

All we have here today is wind and rain, and the sky's so low you could touch it --as if you'd want to. Bleugh! So much grey!

And I'm laughing at Sam's lovely eyebrows when seen from above!

It's a sun-challenge here in STL too...you caught some good shadows! Your violet will thank you. SAM is a cutie. I'd like to be on the beach too. :)

I love your indoor plants. All I have is a silk orchid plant, but, hey, I don't have to water it or fuss over it!

such dark opaque shadows..there must have been a lot of sun Sylvia - my favourite are the A violet and the watering can...

The potted plants offer rich shadows that continue the complex shapes of each. The watering can seems curvaceous with the shadow replicating its arcs nicely. The nice yet small doggie seems to double in character, the beard and pointy ears standing out in real or shadow form. Neat captures, and the sun is turning more and more to the southern winter place. Capture the sun as long as you can!

When my mother lived in Northern Canada the winters were long and dark, she had special lights for her African violets. I can't look at an African violet without thinking about my mother. ;-)

Wonderful mix of shadows! I especially love the shadow across the rug of the violet. It looks as though it is resting and dreaming there!

You obviously have far more luck with African violets than I ever had - mine never survived long enough to throw a shadow of any sort. And I love the shot of Sam reminiscing.
