My World #7

One of the really lovely places to visit in Oregon is the Canby Dahlia Festival. Acres of gorgeous Dahlias, all different kinds, sizes, colors. It's breathtaking! Here are just a few examples. Hope you enjoy! Guess you can tell I'm already tired of cold weather!

Beautiful skies and clouds enhance the colorful fields.

Wow, lovely!

Dahlias are some of my favourites; they're so nice to bring indoors too. I've never seen so many as this, however---thank you for posting such wonderful photos!

Wow I just love all the colourful fields. Thanks for sharing.

I'm assuming they were flowers from earlier in the summer, right? But whichever season they were taken, it is a prolific display of flowers in bloom.

I'm a week behind, but unlike the non-virtual variety, the flowers here are still lovely.

One of my favorite memories is walking through Dahlia fields in Oregon. Many of the flowers were taller than I am. They were every color imaginable. Absolutely breathtaking. I took a HUGE bouquet back to the resort with us to cheer me the entire week. I bought one that was the size of a dinner plate with about four different colors in it.

Man! I'm loving reliving this memory. Thanks for bringing it to mind.

How do they do those ginormous fields, anyway. Do they have to dig up each individual bulb to replant the next year... or can they leave them in the ground in Oregon? We have to dig them up here and store them in Pete in a cool dry spot or over the winter.

So that's what those are... I've seen them before but never knew their given name. Very striking!
