Sky Watch Friday!!

Time to share your skies, the beauty over your world, the clouds, the colors! Sky Watch is hosted each week by  the Sky Watch team of  Sandy and I. And this week as every week, we remember Klaus and know that he joins us in spirit! Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week!
One of my visitors told me that I should use more big pics instead of the collages that I've been using  for a few weeks.  I've used both over the years, but with so many posts for people to visit and comment on, I've tried to keep it to one photo, just lots of skies!! But,  today  I'll share three single ones and I hope you enjoy them! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Each season has its own wonder, it's own special place, and
purpose in the pattern of creation.

Delight in the beauty that surrounds you.

There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains
of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after night, and
     spring after the winter.

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty!!!

Joy does not simply happen to us. We have to choose joy and keep choosing it every day.  Henri Nouwen
Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.
Arnold Bennett
Happiness is not in our circumstance but in ourselves. It is not something we see, like a rainbow, or feel, like the heat of a fire. Happiness is something we are.
John B. Sheerin

How About These Grins for the Day!!!

Give me some sugar, hot lips!

I told you NOT to give me that last beer…

Who used the last roll of toilet paper again??
What does it take to get a walk around here?

Yep, I peed

Bring me a margarita with a little umbrella in it, darling.

If you want something done right around here…

When I said my ears were cold I had no idea you'd take it so seriously

It is only possible to live happily ever after on a day to day basis.

Why Our Grandparents Were So Happy!!!

'Why Our Great-Grandparents Had Fond Memories of Their Youth...'
 (I'm surprised they remember anything!!)

A bottle of Bayer's 'Heroin'
. Between 1890 and 1910 heroin was sold as a non-addictive substitute for morphine.
It was also used to treat children suffering with a strong cough..

Metcalf's Coca Wine was one of a huge variety of wines with cocaine on the market.. Everybody used to
say that it would make you happy and it would also work as a medicinal treatment.
Mariani wine (1875) was the most famous Coca wine of it's time.
Pope Leo XIII
used to carry one bottle with him all the time.
He awarded Angelo Mariani (the producer) with a Vatican gold medal..

Maltine.
Maltine Coca Wine was produced by the Maltine Manufacturing Company of New
York. It was suggested that you should take a full glass with or after every meal. Children should only take half a glass.
Opium for Asthma:

At 40% alcohol plus 3 grams of opium per tablet,It didn't cure you, but you didn't care...
Cocaine Tablets (1900).

All stage actors, singers, teachers and preachers had to have them for a maximum performance. Great to 'smooth' the voice.
Cocaine drops for toothache.

Very popular for children in 1885.
Not only did they relieve the pain, they made the children very happy!

Opium for newborns.

I'm sure this would make them sleep well (not only the Opium, but also 46% alcohol)!

It's no wonder they were called,
'The Good Old Days'!
From cradle to grave...

Everyone Was Stoned!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
