Pet Pride

Hey there my four legged (for the most part) friends, it's time to meet up with Bozo from Mumbai and show just how terrific we are -- just in case anyone has any doubts!
Click here to sign up and join the fun each week!

Doesn't this look just like Mojo? It isn't but I got Mom to post it just cause it's such a dopey looking photo and I'm tired of hearing everyone swoon over Mojo!!

Ok, ok, so that was kind of mean -- here's the real Mojo meditating in the sun in the kitchen.

I didn't want anymore photos of me on Pet Pride until my beard had grown out a little more, but Mom said that was being a wuss! Well, I'm surely NOT a wuss!

OK! Sam has finally gone back downstairs to pout and I can get back to work guarding the house while my Dad is out of town. I'll be so glad when he gets back! Just don't know why he has to go away so often and leave me to take care of things! After all I'm the only one qualified around here to be a guard dog!!

Shadow Shot Sunday!

Time to show your shadows all you shadow sleuths! Shadow Shot is hosted each week by Tracy at Hey Harriet! Click here to sign up and share your shadow shots!

Summer is over and here in the northwest we're seeing less sunshine so you do have to be ready to shoot when you catch a shadow.

Here is a leafy reminder of summer! Click on any of the shots to embiggen and see them better.

A last look at our deck furniture that will spend the winter in the garage!

We had some really brilliant sun for a few hours earlier this week and I found my favorite color shots were deeper and more colorful even than last week -- so of course, I had to include them!

And then I was surprised to find this golden splash on the wall in our living room and I caught a golden sunrise shadow this morning!

Sipping Vodka

A good friend sent me this one this morning, it's gray, chilly and rainy and this was just the laugh I needed to get the day going. Hope it provides a chuckle or two!

A new priest at his first mass was so nervous he could hardly speak. After mass he asked the monsignor how he had done.

The monsignor replied, 'When I am worried about getting nervous on the pulpit, I put a glass of vodka next to the water glass. If I start to get nervous, I take a sip.'

So next Sunday he took the monsignor's advice. At the beginning of the sermon, he got nervous and took a drink.. He proceeded to talk up a storm.

Upon his return to his office after the mass, he found the following note on the door:

1) Sip the vodka, don't gulp.
2) There are 10 commandments, not 12.
3) There are 12 disciples, not 10.
4) Jesus was consecrated, not constipated.
5) Jacob wagered his donkey, he did not bet his ass.
6) We do not refer to Jesus Christ as the late J.C.
7) The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are not referred to as Daddy, Junior and the spook.
8) David slew Goliath; he did not kick the shit out of him.
9) When David was hit by a rock and was knocked off his donkey, don't say he was stoned off his ass.
10) We do not refer to the cross as the 'Big T..'
11) When Jesus broke the bread at the last supper he said, 'Take this and eat it for this is my body..' He did not say 'Eat me'.
12) The Virgin Mary is not called 'Mary with the Cherry'..
13) The recommended grace before a meal is not: Rub-A-Dub-Dub thanks for the grub, Yeah God.
14) Next Sunday there will be a taffy pulling contest at St.. Peter's not a peter pulling contest at St. Taffy's.

The Origination of this letter is unknown.

Sky Watch Friday!

Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy and Louise. Each week people from all over the world share the beauty of their skies. This is an opportunity for you to participate and share yours as well! Come join the fun and enjoy the beauty! Click here, sign up and enjoy!

As Fall moves into the Seattle area I have, over the past couple of years, noticed very subtle changes in our skies as the temperatures begin to drop and clouds gather. It's almost as though they're reluctant to leave, but at the same time, eager for a new season. These are a few that I have captured as Autumn eases in with the cooler weather.

This is the harbor where I go so frequently to take photos! Subtle changes and colors.

Don't often get vertical clouds like these.

And soft pastels, lingering from summer.

Trying to decide whether to be moody and stormy or be satisfied to be beautiful!

Pretty much decided to be moody -- after all, it's Fall, isn't it?

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter. ~Mark Twain

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. ~Samuel Ullman

Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many. ~Author Unknown

Middle age is when your classmates are so gray and wrinkled and bald they don't recognize you ~Bennett Cerf

In every real man a child is hidden that wants to play. ~Friedrich Nietzsche

The great man is he who does not lose his child's-heart. ~Mencius, Book IV

Nature's Amazing Beauty

This is a fire rainbow - the rarest of all naturally occurring atmospheric phenomena.
The picture was captured several years ago on the Idaho/Washington border.
The event lasted for about one hour.

The clouds have to be cirrus, at least 20K feet in the air, with just the right amount
of ice crystals. And the sun has to hit the clouds at precisely 58 degrees!

I always hate to admit what a skeptic I've become when I see something like this, but I realize what people can/will do to create the image they want. From what I've been able to find out through Snopes, it is real, and it did happen in 2006, not recently. It is breathtaking and I surely would have loved to see it for real!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
