Shadow Shot Sunday!

Get out the magnifying glass, get into your best sleuthing clothes and start prowling your environment looking for those wonderful, but sometimes elusive shadows. This fun and challenging meme is hosted each week by Tracy over at Hey Harriet! Click on the link under the blog title and sign up to play!!
We've had our usual mix of rain and sun on an hourly basis, but I managed to catch a couple of pretty good shadow shots at my new place, plus some from last weeks trip to Bellevue.

Wishing you all a very happy and fun weekend!!
In photography there are no shadows that cannot be illuminated.

Weekend Reflections

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James each week beginning Friday at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time. It's another wonderful way of opening your eyes to new and different kinds of beauty. Click on the web address under the blog title and sign up to play with us!  I was so excited about our bus trip this week to the Seattle Waterfront and was hoping for some really great reflection shots! So, what happened?? It rained the entire time we were there! But I got a couple of shots anyway.  The first one shows you how gray it was!  And then while I was waiting for the bus to come get us, I saw these reflections in the building across the street, not particularly stunning -- but????
Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.

And these guys seem to know that!  Hope you all have a great weekend!

Sky Watch Friday!

Time to share your skies, the beauty over your world, the clouds, the colors! Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus and the Sky Watch team of Klaus, Sandy, Wren and me. Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week! Click on the address under the post title to be taken to the SWF website where you can sign up.  I continue to be amazed with the view from my desk almost every evening in one way or another -- if there's anything worth seeing in the skies, particularly in the evening, then it will be visible from my desk! This was a sunset several nights ago over a period of about twenty-five minutes, maybe less, but it was amazing!  Also amazing is the insight and wisdom of some people!!

Economics is extremely useful as a form of employment for economists.
John Kenneth Galbraith

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.
George Washington
Circumstances are beyond human control, but our conduct is in our own power.
Benjamin Disraeli
A diplomat is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you actually look forward to the trip.
Caskie Stinnett

Whenever a man has cast a longing eye on offices, a rottenness begins in his conduct.
Thomas Jefferson

Whenever men take the law into their own hands, the loser is the law. And when the law loses, freedom languishes.

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

Wisdom is not wisdom when it is derived from books alone.

Creativity is the power to connect the seemingly unconnected.

Yep! I'm a Senior Citizen!

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER,
upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The Golden Rule
 from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement.
And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others!!YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!
I'm the life of the party.even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
I'm very good at opening childproof caps.... with a hammer.
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.
I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.
I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!Spread the laughter
Share the cheer
Let's be happy
While we're here.

That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and share your world with others from all over Our World! Just click on the post title, read the rules, sign up and play with us! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for?

On Wednesday I'll be making a trip to the Seattle Waterfront and hope to get some good pics of another part of my world, but the weekend has been gray and rainy so I'm going to share a few more pics from my trip last week to Bellevue. As I mentioned before, I was amazed not only at the beauty of the park where we were, but the numerous skyscrapers! Before moving here I lived in a part of Seattle known as Ballard and while it's close to the water and lovely, the area itself looks like a neighborhood out of the 50s! So, Bellevue was quite a surprise!

Ninety eight percent of the adults in this country are decent, hardworking, honest Americans. It's the other lousy two percent that get all the publicity. But then, we elected them.

Well, Mom has got her corner of the living room almost finished, but I still haven't decided what to do with my side! I'm not accustomed to having so much room even though Mom says its not really THAT big!!! After sharing a house with Mojo any space of my own seems THAT BIG!!!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
