How About This Sunset!!!

I'm moved in! I'm exhausted! But what a view from my new "office" this evening! Had to share it with you! Thanks for all the good wishes and good thoughts! They are so appreciated! Still a lot of work, unpacking etc, etc, etc! But I'm getting settled in! And this sight was just what the doctor ordered. I'm on the 5th floor, and the big, double windows in my cozy little office face west! I had hoped it would give me a great view, but I had no idea how good!  My next ones will be from the roof -- no window frames! Hope your weekend has gone well. I am SO glad to have the move over with. Still stuff to be done over the next few days, but I'm pleased and comfortable with my new home! And so is Sam Schnauzer!!

It's first
a thought,
close in the mind;
a sharing,
with folks,
earlier close,
but now
a bit at a distance;
And finally
a striking out,
wide and open ,
to enjoy
your very own sunsets
on a golden evening
amidst the boxes and bags;

So like
the blinds
on the picture window
opening up
and then some;
so you can smile
at the Sun
reveling amidst
his cloudy baggage,
before settling in for the night...

Welcome home !

Shadow Shot Sunday!

Get out the magnifying glass, get into your best sleuthing clothes and start prowling your environment looking for those wonderful, but sometimes elusive shadows. This fun and challenging meme is hosted each week by Tracy over at Hey Harriet! Click on the link under the blog title and sign up to play!!

Hooray!! The long awaited moving day is here!! I'll have new shadows next week! But here are some for today as I look back over the past few years!  My computer will probably not get hooked up immediately so I'll  be missing for most of the weekend, but I'll make up for it with lots of visits next weekend!

This is an oldie but goodie that a friend sent me and I thought I'd share it with you. Definitely good for a rueful giggle! Unfortunately, all too true!!

At the end of the tax year, the IRS office sent an inspector to audit the books of a local hospital.  While the IRS agent was checking the books, he turned to the CFO of the hospital and said. "I notice you buy a lot of bandages.  What do you do with the end of the roll when there's too little left to be of any use?"
"Good question," noted the CFO.  "We save them up and send them back to the bandage company and every once in a while, they send us a free roll."?

"Oh," replied the auditor, somewhat disappointed that his unusual question had a practical answer.  But on he went, in his obnoxious way. "What about all these plaster purchases?  What do you do with what's left over after setting a cast on a patient?"
"Ah, yes," replied the CFO, realizing that the inspector was trying to trap him with an unanswerable question.  "We save it and send it back to the manufacturer and every so often they will send us a free bag of plaster.

"I see," replied the auditor, thinking hard about how he could fluster the know-it-all CFO.  "Well," he went on, "What do you do with all the remains from the circumcision surgeries?"
"Here, too, we do not waste," answered the CFO.  "What we do is save all the little foreskins and send them to the IRS office, and about once a year they send us a complete prick."

The Big Move Has Begun!

The last preparations for the big move on Saturday begin tomorrow and there's much packing etc. to be done and not much time for blogging!  I'm sure all of your will be grateful when this move is finally over and I can finally talk/write/whine about something else!  I will probably not be posting much until I'm settled in, but whenever I have a free moment or two I'll be checking in with your blogs on ABC, Sky Watch, Weekend Reflections, Shadow Shot Sunday and Pet Pride!  These are a couple of photos (not mine) of the complex that I'm moving into. You'll get to see lots of better ones once I get unpacked!  I hope you all have a great week and I do look forward to things getting back to normal -- whatever that is in my life these days!!!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
