Shadow Shot Sunday!

Get out the magnifying glass, get into your best sleuthing clothes and start prowling your environment looking for those wonderful, but sometimes elusive shadows. This fun and challenging meme is hosted each week by Tracy over at Hey Harriet! Click on the link under the blog title and sign up to play!! Not much sun again, but I went crazy when it did put in a brief appearance, as you can see from my latest collage. I do like to play and it's a good thing since I'm pretty well housebound these days!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend with lots of sun and shadows, love and laughter!

A Moment to Say Thank You!

Life is frequently difficult and sometimes it catches you unaware. That's where I have been the past week and I just want to thank all of you for your comments and visits to my site. It has made such an incredible difference in my ability to deal with a reality that I hadn't planned on! Thank you! You've helped more than you'll ever know! Have a beautiful weekend and week ahead!

Weekend Reflections

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James each week beginning Friday at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time. It's another wonderful way of opening your eyes to new and different kinds of beauty. Our weather hasn't been particularly encouraging for any activity that requires sunlight, but I did catch one rather busy and interesting one in our breakfast room window -- obviously a favorite place of mine! There are not only the reflections in our window, but a reflection of a reflection in a new window to be installed in our neighbors house. Then a couple of old favorites that I hope you enjoy -- again!

Sky Watch Friday!

Time to share your skies, the beauty over your world, the clouds, the colors! Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus and the Sky Watch team of Klaus, Sandy, Wren and me. Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week! Click on the post title to be taken to the SWF website where you can sign up. I don't usually post this many pictures on one Sky Watch, but this past week we've had some uniquely clear skies for a few days and there were some extremely large aircraft to be seen -- military planes, I was told. But whatever, between them and the usual planes, they seemed to be playing contrail games in the sky and it was fascinating to watch. Every time I went outside and looked up there would be new ones -- so bear with me! We did have a couple of gorgeous sunsets as well!

All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure.   — Mark Twain

Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

I think I've discovered the secret of life - you just hang around until you get used to it.
Charles M. Schulz

I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.
Alice Roosevelt Longworth

God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny.
Garrison Keillor
HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1.  Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph:
"Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"

2.  Keep only cheerful friends.
The grouches pull you down.
(Keep this in mind if you are one of those grouches!)

3. Keep learning:
Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever...
Never let the brain get idle.  'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'
And the devil's name is Alzheimer's!

4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud.
Laugh until you gasp for breath.

And if you have a friend who makes you laugh,
spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER.

6.. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on.
The only person who is with us our entire life, is ourselves.
LIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love:
Whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever..

Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.

If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips..

Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county,
to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
 10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance..

Now, do share this with someone.

Remember! Lost time can never be found.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
And!
Wine does not make you FAT ...
- it makes you LEAN ....(Against tables, chairs, floors, walls and ugly people.)

And a couple of added laughs for the day!

That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Click on the icon and share your world with others from all over Our World! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? It is chilly, wet, gray -- you get the picture, right? But I still have a great world -- just have to look a little harder and here are some views from the better times! This first shot I took from a bus stop and the lines and poles are a distraction, but the colors of the trees along the freeway and on the hill were so beautiful and typical of the colors you still can see all over the city -- although they are fading!

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and your government when it deserves it."
Mark Twain

This meme is easy and it's fun! Thanks, Susan for hosting.

And here's the picture for the day!

She stared down the path as she had done for weeks. Where was Mama?
Tears ran down her cheeks, as her Dad, staggering, led her back home.

So, how do you like my new look? Mom couldn't decide on which photo, so I told her to post all of them!!  I don't like going to the groomer, but she is a really nice lady and is really sweet to me, so guess I shouldn't complain! AND! I can see again with my eyebrows trimmed! Won't have much of a beard for a while, but I'm tidy and besides it makes me look younger, don't you think?

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
