Sky Watch Friday!

Time to share your skies, the beauty over your world, the clouds, the colors! Sky Watch is hosted each week by Klaus and the Sky Watch team of Klaus, Sandy, Wren and me. Join us and the many people from all over the world who share theirs with us each week! Click on the post title to be taken to the SWF website where you can sign up. Can you believe that Christmas will be here in nine days!!!!  Ah, well, time flies whether you're having fun or not!! We've had a few HOURS of sunshine and blue skies this past week and I'm not exaggerating! Ah, but what we had when we had them they were wonderful!! So, I went looking for them as I gnashed my teeth over the current politics! Hard to believe that Will Rogers and Mark Twain are not here today!  Their quotes are amazingly current or perhaps politics have always been the same game????
Ancient Rome declined because it had a Senate, now what's going to happen to us with both a House and a Senate?
Will Rogers

Anything important is never left to the vote of the people. We only get to vote on some man; we never get to vote on what he is to do.
Will Rogers

Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock.
Will Rogers

Last year we said, 'Things can't go on like this', and they didn't, they got worse.
Will Rogers

What the country needs is dirtier fingernails and cleaner minds.
Will Rogers

There ought to be one day - just one - when there is open season on senators.
Will Rogers

Being a hero is about the shortest-lived profession on earth.
Will Rogers

Lovely images Sylvia! I always enjoy the quotes you provide to go along with your pictures too.

I guess that is why Twain and Rogers will never be forgotten. Their thoughts are timeless. It also shows that our culture matures very slowly. Every era seems to repeat the same mistakes. The “dirty fingernails and cleaner minds” quote is priceless. Love your awesome sky photos and wish I could sail away in the beautiful scene of sparkling waters.

These quotes would lead one to believe that Will Rogers was listening to today's news.
These photos are just amazing. I thought each one was wonderful, but the next one I looked at was even better. Your final photo is gorgeous. I love the color in the cloud.

Hi Sylvia,
These skies are gorgeous, and the quotes too appropriate. I have had little exposure to Will Rogers; I have missed something. A trip to the library is in order!

I just want to know if I take to your skies, will I be patted down or scanned? :)

I want to find a new inventive word for beautiful, stunning and astonishing becuase that is how I feel when I see your photos...let's see...Beau-stun-ish?

We have our political comic commentators but they don't see as adept at the one line as Clemens and Rogers.
As for skies, we had blue ones yesterday and today but they say it is clouds and rain for the foreseeable future, including our drive to LA next Thursday.

Thank you Sylvia for your beautiful skies and the wise quotes by Will Rogers.
He is using a gentle and polite language on your politicians.
I would be censored if i write in public my opinion about ours.
Have a great evening.

Ciao Myriam :)

Hi Sylvia! The first photo is so soft coloured! It's like a scenery of a fairy-tale. Your other photos are also stunning and the quotes are for ever appropriate.
Thank you for your visit and comment. What you were thinking about the prisoner who wrote the poem on the wall, kept me also busy wondering what happened to him or her. It is such a strong statement.
I wish you too a very happy weekend.

I get the distinct impression that Will Rogers was NOT a fan of senators. :)

If you let a politician go for a walk in your backyard, be sure to bring the doggie bags to pick up after its mess.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
