The past few days have seen so much horror in Colorado and I just want to be reminded of the beauty in our world and the wisdom of some. May all of you have a peaceful week filled with love, beauty and gratitude.
Nonviolence means avoiding not only external physical violence but also internal violence of spirit. You not only refuse to shoot a man, but you refuse to hate him.
Martin Luther King, Jr.

A shocking, horrific event Sylvia hard to even imagine possible. As you say at times like this we have to remember all the good things as well.

I agree : there are no words to express what we feel at so much hate and violence, Sylvia
Martin Luther was a wise man and it is good to remember his words

Beautiful photos and a perfect quote, although sometimes very hard to live by - how do you not hate a man who's killed somebody you love? I drive by that movie theater every time I go to the Denver airport.

Your collection of photos is a great reminder of the beauty that is in this world that is easily disrupted by the actions of mankind. The quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. is just one more reason why the man is so respected. He looked beyond the surface of things. I think when someone precious is lost, we become too sad to even feel anger at some point.

Beautiful and peaceful shots and I love the M.L.K. quote. It's terrible about the horrors in the world and it can be so overwhelming.

What a great quote, Sylvia! I wonder why humans seem to "enjoy" hating so much.

A very important quote one wishes the whole world to read. Most of all the second sentence. Which makes the difference between 'us' and 'him'. Please have a good Tuesday.

Your blog helps balance the horror and violence that the media focuses on these days... The antidote to such common violence is the calming force of beauty. Please keep our hope for the future intact and continue to inspire us with your well chosen quotes and photos and occasional snippets of humor.

Beautiful collage and the way you acknowledged the tragedy is perfect (what you said and the MLK quote as well). I never know how to do that. Thank you

It takes somebody like you to get our mind back on the beauty of the world. Have a great day Sylvia!!

P.S. Selling guns or TV sets should not be the same. Now movies are to blame for the shootings as I've heard in the US? Please... Have you seen the amount of guns the shooter had at home?

Horrible news from Denver, Sylvia. We live in a beautiful world and we each need so little that it should be easy to share and enjoy for everyone. Hard to understand why there is so much hate and senseless violence.

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
