If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we aren't really living.
Gail Sheehy

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
Alan Watts
Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing
himself.

The glasses and stemware, as always, make for wonderful shadows. Is that Mojo? He seems to have had fun chasing the ball in the water...the patio and flowers are lovely too - that is a beautiful place to entertain!

wishing you a great weekend, Sylvia,
Tolstoy was such a brilliant guy, wasn't he?

Tolstoy said it right, I believe. And that's the problem. Who among us thinks we need changing? Not I, said the Little Red Hen. :-)

Your shadow shots are guaranteed to give credence to the reality.

Re The Villages: They were nothing but orange groves 30-35 years ago. Then a guy by name of Harold Schwartz had a dream. Now there are some 35,000 houses and 80,000 residents, two downtowns with another underway, plus myriads of swimming pools, parks, playgrounds, area community centers, etc.

Just about everyone has a golf car (they don't call 'em carts!) and they can be driven on roads in The Villages. If you wish to drive yours on a city street or county road it must be "street legal," which means it must be outfitted with lights, turn signals, and the ability to go at least 35 mph, etc.

They are ubiquitous in The Villages and dangerous. Lois and I tried to ride bikes down there one day and nearly got run over by golf cars. It's also very competitive to see who has the fanciest golf car, and some folks put $30K or more into a creative design.

The Villages is about 35 miles south of Ocala (where we live) but we go down there often 'cause it's a lot of fun watching all the funny old people. Like us! :-)

I think Tolstoy was a genius and is quite right … except we do think of changing but then forget. :) As your photos show, glass makes such wonderful see-through shadows!

Gorgeous variety of shadows! Love the dog and ball shot! So cute! And the floral display in the last photo is exquisite!

Change, everybody talks about how we are supposed to embrace change. I give that advice all the time. It's harder to take the advice than to give it.
Have a great weekend Sylvia!!!

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
