Weekend Reflections

Anyone can sympathize with the sufferings of a friend, but it requires a very fine nature to sympathize with a friend's success. Oscar Wilde

I've learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.  Martha Washington

Hi Sylvia, I noticed that your complete blog address wasn't linked so I replaced it and now it seems to be working. I cut and pasted http://www.sylviafromoverthehill.blogspot.com/ to replace

sylviafromoverthehill.blogspot.com/

Wonderful shots as always. :-)

These quotes are so good. It means that if we feel unhappy we shouldn't blame the circumstances but find a way to recover ourselves.
Your header is great fun! Do you also start the speech from the throne with: " My government...." ?
You wrote that you are also 80. So will I be in December. My Australian daughter and family will come here to celebrate. I am looking forward to seeing them .

Your photos are great as always, Sylvia and the quotes are thought provoking. I was sympathizing with a friend today. I'm wondering would it be harder to feel happy for someone's success? Interesting thought.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
