1. Try everything twice.
On one woman's tombstone she said she wanted this epitaph: "Tried everything twice. Loved it both times!"
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.
(Oh, and keep this in mind just in case you are one of those grouches!)
3. Keep learning: Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever ... Never let the brain get idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop". And the devil's name is Alzheimer!!
4. Enjoy the simple things.
5. Laugh often, long and loud! Laugh until you gasp for breath. And if you have a friend who makes you laugh, spend lots and lots of time with HIM/HER!!
6. The tears happen: Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person who is with us our entire life is ourselves. LIVE while you are alive!
7. Surround yourself with what you love: whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever ... Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health:
If it is good, preserve it.
If it is unstable, improve it.
If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips...
Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county, to a foreign country, but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. And I do love you all -- my very special friends!!
11. Forgive now those who made you cry. You might not get a second chance.
Remember! Lost time can never be found.
And be kinder than necessary for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Oh, and one more thing ...
Wine does not make you FAT .. it makes you LEAN ... (against tables, chairs, floors, walls and ugly people!!!)Nothing wrong with that, I like to "lean" now and then!!

Great advice, and I am so glad it isn't the wine that's making me fat!
Hi Sylvia, once again you put a smile upon my face and made me chuckle;)
I love these, especially about the wine.
Cheers to you :))
the last one made me bust out laughing - so you fulfilled one of those things on the list. :)
An oldie but a goody. We've a all seen and heard of a beer belly, have you, have you ever heard of a wine belly??? I firmly believe that eating and drinking what I like keeps me going and no-one can tell me I will live even a second longer if I cut our this or that.
Sylvia, this looks like YOUR guide to living well. I'll bet you have it on a plaque in the kitchen.
Thanks, Sylvia! Lotsa good things in your list on how to get the most out of life.
All the best!
Much good advice here Sylvia, I wonder how many people actually follow it :)
A lovely sky!
