My World

Welcome to Our World!! This is a great meme that lets us share the good, the bad, the beautiful – well, you get it, we get to share our worlds that include all of the above!!  Having grown up in a very small town in west Texas, I moved to Oregon a number of years ago just so I could see trees everywhere I looked and I’ve never been disappointed!! And I never pass up an opportunity to go to any one of the many beautiful parks in and around Portland. But today we will just walk some of the streets – streets that look like part of a park to me!!
Nature is beneficent. I praise her and all her works. She is silent and wise. She is cunning, but for good ends. She has brought me here and will also lead me away. She may scold me, but she will not hate her work. I trust her.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.
Helen Keller

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
Kahlil Gibran
Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.
Rachel Carson

Hi Sylvia, Interesting to hear that you grew up in Texas and moved to the Pacific Northwest. Seems like I read about lots of folks doing that but sure don't hear about many going the opposite direction. :-) I do like Portland a lot. I think Seattle is moving, slowly, in the same direction regarding car traffic in downtown ... more lanes are getting converted to bicycle paths. You've got some nice pictures of the park there and good quotes to go with. I am curious why My World Tuesday starts on Mondays. Have a good day!

Ah, such a wonderful place and such beautiful photographs. I was thinking we need Rachel Carson back again to help us preserve the earth in the face of all those destroying it with their greed!

Trees and going to the woods can calm nerves.

That does indeed look like a park, Sylvia. Sometimes I wish we had more trees around here, but it's too dry. Have a great week!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
