Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

The poetry of the earth is never dead. ~ John Keats

Senior Clouds,
some laden with stuff,
some stress-free,
on their annual
sight seeing vacation;
As some,
breathless above Seattle,
float lower,
a few tough ones,
Cheneyish,
a bit up there,
sight
the dazzling snow.

"George ! Holy Halliburton !
I see the Himalayas!
We are in India !"....

And George,
who has travelled
the world,
as the most powerful man,
shook his head,
saying,
"it can't be....
I just pinged the guy
in the yacht below,
and he said
"Move on,
there is Arnold
somewhere down
the road;
as for us
we don't need
a Republican
Rain,
in this lovely
Democratic
spring...

Great things are done when men and mountains meet.
This is not done by jostling in the street. ~ William Blake

Shall I not have intelligence with the earth? Am I not partly leaves and vegetable mold myself. ~ Henry David Thoreau

The sun, with all those plants revolving around it and dependent upon it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do. ~ Galileo

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. ~ Rachel Carson

If I were to discover a medicine that, with absolutely no side affects, would guarantee you peace, reduced stress, better health, close relationships, and increased vitality it would be a miracle! There is such a miracle, it is called forgiveness! ~ Dr. Lee Jampolsky

Oh, that last quote made my heart jump a little bit, it's so powerful! Forgiveness can be so hard, yet every time I've applied it, the result has been amazingly freeing!

Thanks again for a lovely, thought-provoking post, Sylvia!

It's so true about forgiveness, isn't it? I agree about the rose. It is absolutely exquisite.

Forgiveness - the hardest to give and the hardest to receive.
Sylvia, I know you've more than enough to do but I wondered if you'd be interested in http://taramillerwrites.wordpress.com/2010/05/12/its-wordy-wednesday-today/#comment-312
I was tagged for it and thought I'd have a go. No problems if you can't or don't :-)

My favorite image is the second one, for ti has much movement and yet stillness in beauty about it, wonderful and soothing, Your rose image is delightful, only thing missing is the sharing of the lovely fragrance, I know it showed off to you~ Have a wonderful weekend~

I wish there would be more of that forgiveness medicine around and some people might take it without prescription too . Because medicine is only helpful if it is taken, eh eh.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
