Thoughts, Wisdom, Love of Country

Each must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, and which course is patriotic and which isn't. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your convictions is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let man label you as they may.
Mark Twain

Freedom is nothing but a chance to be better.
Albert Camus

Freedom is the oxygen of the soul.
Moshe Dayan

He loves his country best who strives to make it best.
Robert Green Ingersoll

He who loves not his country, can love nothing.
Lord Byron

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.
Abraham Lincoln

If our country is worth dying for in time of war let us resolve that it is truly worth living for in time of peace.
Hamilton Fish

Sylvia,

Your photos should be on postcards! Why don't you look into it? Could be a profitable business for you.

Beautiful job. No peace here, though. Danged fireworks sound like bombs... :-)

Thank you for the quotations. They offer much on which to reflect. Abe Lincoln's resonates the most for me.

I've taken pics where the mountains seem to sit atop the clouds. People ask me what program I used to do that and refuse to believe it is real!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
