That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and share your world with others from all over Our World! Just click on the post title, read the rules, sign up and play with us! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for?  Well, it has been a stormy, windy, cold week and they're predicting snow over the next couple of days! But who knows????  The first shot was just an incredibly lucky break taken Saturday evening and it still takes my breath away! And the last shot was taken ten minutes ago, the snow is falling and quite heavily!!

If we would learn what the human race really is at bottom, we need only observe it in election times. — Mark Twain
Sky mirrors

Dry winds
and crackling leaves
and she looks around
the empty trees,
stark in the dark....

There is a definite chill,
she feels
the roughness on her face,
brownish in patches;
and so she
will sit and pine
and grow thinner
day by day,
till
a sliver of her old self.

Cloud lotions,
and Christmas flake moisturizers,
coming up soon,
make her smile,
and touch her face again.

There will
soon be

Why shouldn't truth be stranger than fiction? Fiction, after all, has to make sense.

That moon is just spectacular. We are back in Fresno, and with the clouds, did not get to see it. In SF it usually rises over the bridge and makes a great scene. Glad you shared yours.

Wow! These are so beautiful! After all this time I'm still amazed by the beauty of the PNW. Great shots!

Snow in Seattle and it isn't even winter yet. We're not expecting snow at our elevation but cold temps after it passes means I had better think about protecting the citrus.

I have illusions, therefore I live. It´s that simple. These facts made more sense today.

Beautiful photos, Sylvia! Seattle sure is a gorgeous place. :)

These are all wonderful shots. I love the way you started with the moon and ended with the snow.

Outstanding moon photo. Winter is sure arriving with a vengeance--a student of mine is stranded bewteen here & Eugene, can't go either way.

I was in Vancouver in the evening when I saw a dusting of snow on the mountains behind the cityscape. There was a soft pink glow all around. On the way home from the city the full moon glowed in the sky. I wanted to take a picture of both these scenes but discovered my camera battery was exhausted. Your excellent photos are a nice reminder of the beauty I did not capture. :)

So its snowing Seattle, how special is that! Just in time for this wonderful Holiday season. I remember the beauty of the first fallen snow. I always enjoyed it so.

Today I am thankful for special people like you, Dear Sylvia. Thanks, my Friend..

I always look forward to your quotes by Mark Twain! I would be thrilled to be remembered with just one good quote and he had SO many! Your photos are superb! Is this a recent snow on your patio??? Oh my!

Carolyn Ford said...

Oh...it is a current snow! I am sorry, I didn't read your story well. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Very pretty photos as always, Sylvia. I love the snow, we had a couple of inches of unexpected snow last night and it was nice to see. That first shot of the Moon is spectacular!

Your quotes and Your World are just magnificent! :)

The moon shot is gorgeous, how wonderful that you got it. Our usually-clear skies have been covered in snow clouds for so long now, I've got no idea what the moon is doing.
All of your photos are beautiful, Sylvia. I always love to see them. Sorry you are getting more snow, though.

Sylvia you are becoming a master at photography and don't day its a fluke, the other nature shots belie that. Just wonderful.

That last saying of Twain's is one to remember. I just change illusions to dreams.

After a lifetime of being frugal, I am finally learning from my daughter to live for the day for we cannot count on to morrow. I bought myself a lovely bunch of peonies that now grace and perfume my bedroom.

May all your days be happy ones . . . Arija

The first one is magical... as if the twig is holding the moon up. Great pictures and wonderful quotes.

Sylvia! That top shot is so beautiful I almost couldn't bring myself to scroll down. When I saw the snow I kind of wished I hadn't ;>) -- it's a great picture, but I kinda' hated the reminder. (I think we're going to get some here this week.)

You already know how much I enjoy your sky shots, but you keep on surprising me, this time with the top one! It's fantastic! Was the bottom shot taken now??? If so, it's another surprise! :-)

Sylvia K said...

Hi JM, yes, the bottom shot was taken yesterday morning just before I posted this. We got about 4-5 inches of snow, lots of wind and temps in the teens. We have blue skies today, but the snow is still here and the temps tonight will be 10-12 degrees. It's very cold!!

Oh, I do love your quotes from Mark Twain! And the snowy scenes are pretty, but sooo cold-looking!

Funny how a patio set can remind you of summer even covered in snow, isn't it?
