MicroFiction Monday

Susan at Stony River Farm hosts Microfiction Monday. She posts a picture and you compose a story in 140 characters. You can click on the link under the title to get further instructions. To help you along she has posted a wonderful link that counts your characters for you! How great is that! You can get the counter at Design 215.

This meme is easy and it's fun! Thanks, Susan for hosting.

And here's the picture for the day!

The police had called off the search as the fog thickened. We stayed, staring at
the bridge where we had seen her last. Why? Only silence.

And here is my partner in crime from Mumbai!

We told them not to leave this gap. Now the drunk guy has driven straight through into the water; he thought it's a shortcut to the bridge.

Your story is haunting and memorable, like the foggy scene.

Oh, how sad, Sylvia, but a good psychological mystery. Have a wonderful week.

O, Sylvia. ;) This could get real sad!

I hope her body wasn't the one my guy Al threw in.

A mystery waiting to be solved! Very sad!

Re your blog, I don't have trouble with comments, I just have trouble getting your blog to load! Often need to re-fresh a couple of times! But that's OK! I keep trying!

#1: Why indeed?
#2: Alcohol addiction can make one think crazy thoughts.

How sad. And it makes one pause and think. Good job.

Good ones. That photo has certainly elicited some sad stories.

Sad ones today Sylvia but they both fit the picture perfectly.

Mama Badger said...

Oh, that is sad. But I always think there's hope if the person isn't found. Maybe she was saved by swans or something.

Great micros, though we are all thinking such morbid thoughts LOL! :O)

This looks like my water front last weekend. We had a gigantic storm, luckily not as big a flood as Australia.

Karen said...

Oh no! So sad & interesting that you both found drownings in your mMF. But, its a different take than I've read so far, kudos! :>

Susan Fobes said...

Sylvia, both of these were definitely on the dark side, but oh so good!

Susan Fobes said...

BTW, I really like your new header-the picture is so happy (I can't wait until spring!)

SparkleFarkel said...

Whoa! Tales From the Darkside, alright! (I can even hear its perfect-for-this-microfiction-image theme music playing in my head!) Especially "...the drunk guy has driven straight through into the water; he thought it's a shortcut to the bridge." All I can say is: GPSs: Stop the madness!!!

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
