Weekend Reflections

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James each week beginning Friday at 11 AM Eastern Standard Time. It's another wonderful way of opening your eyes to new and different kinds of beauty. Click on the web address under the blog title and sign up to play with us! Well, it's still raining, but we've been promised a sunny weekend!!! And temps in the 70s!!!  None of that in over a year!! But we'll see what happens and maybe I can even find some new reflections!!! In the meantime I'll share these with you and wish you a wonderful weekend!!

Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.
Leo Tolstoy

Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.
Bertolt Brecht

I do hope old Bertolt knew what he was talking about!!
A man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life.
James Allen

He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.
Friedrich Nietzsche

These quotations are very profound reflections, Sylvia! The one by Nietzsche is very deep.

Beautiful shots Sylvia!

I can't say I'm a fan of Nietzsche, but the quote from him is a good one!

I kept saying "oh I like this best" until the next one came into view....these are beautiful. The last shot is a stunner, but I like the subtleness of the middle two shots as well-they create a mix of emotions-bittersweet, I guess.
Happy weekend Sylvia.

I just love that second shot!

Your first picture is wonderful. I love the reflection of the light on the water and those mountains in the backyard. I hope you do have a beautiful, sunny weekend and can get more great pictures to share with us.

Great shadows/reflections in the middle shots, so well composed, Sylvia. The sunset is gorgeous and look at all those boats!

More rain - hard to believe! These are beautiful photos, Sylvia - you live in one of the country's most amazing places. But I have to admit, it was nice to see some Colorado sunshine after spending a week there! But I'm sure I'll be back again.

You are the Queen of shadows, light, reflections, and appropriate quotes. And I am continually amazed by your ongoing stream of headers you get from your friend. They might deserve a post devoted to them.

I love your shadow on the lacy wall

There are so many wise variations of the Tolstoy quote, yet we still don't get it, do we? And Nietsche is referring to what the Japanese call ikigai or French call raison d'etre. Hope you get some sun soon! My friends just north of your border said that after the longest, coldest, wettest spring on record they finally got some sun today... you too? Like in your last gorgeous photo? Another fun header!

Its nice to catch up after not being able to do much computer stuff while we're on the road. Your posts are always so full of joy!

I love the new way your photos look with the rounded corners. And your new header just makes me smile every time.

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
