Shadow Shot Sunday!

Get out the magnifying glass, get into your best sleuthing clothes and start prowling your environment looking for those wonderful, but sometimes elusive shadows. This fun and challenging meme is hosted each week by Tracy over at Hey Harriet! Click on the link under the blog title and sign up to play!!

It took summer a LONG time to get here, but it has been beautiful these past couple of weeks and I have enjoyed the sun, the flowers, beautiful skies etc. etc. etc.  Hope all of you are staying safe from the bad weather and that you and your families are safe and well as we look back at the horror of 9/11 -- so hard to believe it has already been ten years since that nightmare of a day! And that if for no other reason made me want to focus on the beauty!

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.

The world changed for all of us that day. When these sad anniversaries come round, it reminds us to make the most of life!

I feel like writing an ode to that beady-eyed pigeon! How did you get so close to it?

BITS OF SHADOW

Bits of shadow and blasts of light,
Morning and evening, noon and night;

Days of darkness, gloomy and drear;
Sometimes bright ones, bringing good cheer;

Spring or winter, summer or fall,
Light or shadow—embrace them all!

Lovely collage and I like the idea of focusing on what is beautiful. That's pretty much all we can do -- that and hope that everyone else is doing that as well.

So lovely Sylvia! I love the collage - it's so sunny and gorgeous where you are at the moment! I particularly like the pinky purple sheen on the pigeon's neck!

The sun has risen over the Puget, and you have taken full advantage of it! Flowers and digging dogs show the days are still nice...I am not a fan of pigeons so much, but the alert look an sharp eye makes this guy look almost intellectual - if one can use tis term with any bird :)

It is useless to immerse oneself in a horror that has passed, no matter how gruesome. That way we only keep it alive and ever present. Better to be grateful for what we have and to hope for peace but still remember.

This is such a special post and the comments so far are wonderful. I love the bird and the dog in there with the pretty flowers. Today I spent time just walking about our property looking at my flowers and the beauty that surrounds me. Your post expresses the feelings I felt beautifully. genie

These are great. I especially love the shade on the side of the house. So much late summer in that.

Love the soft shadows on the dove. Gray or white - let the dove be a symbol of peace.

So many lovely shots. And your header made me laugh. We need beauty and love to balance the nightmare of this anniversary.

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
