Generation Y????

People born before 1946 were called The Silent generation..
People born between 1946 and 1964 are called The Baby Boomers.
People born between 1965 and 1979 are called Generation X.
And people born between 1980 and 2010 are called GenerationY.
Why do we call the last group Generation Y?
Y should I get a job?
Y should I leave home and find my own place?
Y should I get a car when I can borrow yours?
Y should I clean my room?
Y should I wash and iron my own clothes?
Y should I buy any food?
Y are you always picking on me?
But a cartoonist explained it very eloquently below:

You "cracked" me up ... couldn't stop laughing. Probably because I know a lot of Y generation kids and their overly protective parents. Sigh ... never thought I would be thinking about "the good old days", but that's just what went through my mind when I read this ... Leave it to you, Silvia ... you are awesome.

Too funny! I can laugh because I'm not in Generation Y and I don't have any children. :-)

Oh, my gosh, I have to send that to my son who belongs to that generation! He once had his pants fall off at a crosswalk because they were so low! LOL

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
