This pic was taken by the daughter of a good friend of mine of  one of the many fires on Mount Hood this year!! It is an awesome mountain and I have shown it to you before, but not like this! Quite a picture of "my world" today!!

Terrifying … wonder if the carelessness of mankind had anything to do with some of this … and I wonder how wildlife survives in such dramatic cases. Firefighters have got to be on the top of the list as heroes.

Hi Sylvia, what a frightening sight and great photo.
Sylvia I have not been visiting you because I could never get on your blog there always was a blog from 2009 on. But now it all of a sudden worked out well. Sorry it took such a long time but do know that I honestly tried. I must have done something wrong but I still don't know what. Have a nice week.

Oh Wow! That is totally awesome. I've never seen a photo like that. I hope that's not a fire in the distance.

Great photo! And yes, wild fires are the bane of our dry season in the forests.

The fires out west are horrible. I know of the recent one in Colorado and the current ones in California, but I didn't know that Mount Hood also was threatened by fire. Bad!

All I can say about this photo is 'Wow!'.

That's crazy, it's supposed to be too wet in your part of the world for wildfire. But what an awesome photo!

It's a brilliant shot Sylvia, but dreadful circumstances oui!

The fires just get scarier every year, Sylvia. Beautiful (though terrible) photo, though.

A fantastic shot until you see what it is all about. Wildfires are the bane of our existence here as well. Others look forward to the summer and the beach, I just dread the dry and the fires.

Thank you for your kind words my dear.

Hi Sylvia! I am terrified of bush fires. In Australia there are a lot of them and my daughter lives in a forest, which is sometimes very dry. There are bushfires which are started deliberately by the local people, but they are under control.Wildlife runs the danger of being killed by fire. I hope that the fires in your country will be extinguished soon. I saw some of it on TV, this morning.

Congrats to your friend's daughter, it's a fantastic shot. Fires have been a nightmare here! Four firemen have died just in August.

Once you have had a big fire close to your home like I, you only can think of all the destruction it causes:(
