That's My World -- Lavender Festival - My Version

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus, Sandy, Ivar, Wren, Fishing Guy and Louise. Click here to sign up and join the fun and share your world with us!

A month or so ago I wrote about the Lavender Festival that's held in Sequim, Washington every year and I posted pictures supplied by Google. I mentioned at the time that I would be making a trip to the festival this year and yesterday I spent the day there with good friends from Portland. It was such a lovely trip and a gorgeous day and I did get lots of photos of my own and I want to share those with you today.

We passed another ferry on our way across the Sound to the area where Sequim is located. It's about a two hour trip from my house to Sequim with a twenty minute ferry ride.

The next three shots were taken at a couple of different farms. There is community location near downtown Sequim where you can see lots of products produced in the area by local artists, there are great stands where you can choose from a huge variety of delicious, delectable foods. And from there you can take a bus to the various farms -- we visited five.

The colors are exquisite, the sweet, heady fragrance permeates the air. The sun was warm, the breeze cool!

At the last farm, they had these llamas and they were friendly buggers!

Sunset on the Sound as we returned to the mainland at the end of a gorgeous, breathtaking and fun day! Definitely an early birthday present for me from my wonderful friends, James and Chiaki! Thank you, my friends! You're the best!

Unique festival!
The only sorrow is I can't smell the shots.

The lavender festival photos are beautiful. The scent must have been great, too.
Cute llamas, and a beautiful sunset to finish the day in style.

My wife would love this.
Great pictures!

I am so jealous. I love lavender and have a few plants at my house but being able to see fields of it like that is my idea of heaven. Also like the water and sky shots.

I blog here.
The sunset is just as colorful as the lavender. It must have been aromatic all over the place.

Oh how delightful! I have been to a small lavender festival in Sonoma valley and the scent is amazing isn't it?

I'm so glad you got there - it looks both fun and interesting to attend.

I have lavender planted in my yard, and it seems to attract a fair number of pollinators. It's also fairly hardy and resilient - requirements for all plants at Wrenaissance.

Oh, I'm soooooooooooooo jealous. The other year Jack and I went to a lavender festival up in Pennsylvania. The beautiful flowers and the wonderful smells were great and your photos bring it all back to me. Thanks for posting and sharing. Great job.

Wonderful! I have been enjoying the lavender in my own graden, and the bumble bees love it.
There is nothing quite like coming back across the sound at sunset. What a perfect ending!

Wonderful photos, Sylvia. The sunset is beautiful. I can almost smell that lavender from your photos. I heard them talking about it on the news earlier this evening (it was prerecorded from last Friday) and I wondered how it went. Thanks for filling me in!

Sylvia these are beautiful photos and I can almost smell the gentle fragrance of the lavender. I have never seen it in the field. Looks like it was a wonderful way to spend a beautiful day.

Wow, that's a lot of lavender! The color and smell must have been a sensory delight. When can we get cybersmell? I always liked riding the ferries. A great place for a golden sunset. Great captures Sylvia.

The fields of lavender look lovely.

I love the lavender field! The first shot of it looks like England. We have lavender here only from imported shops, and very expensive.

A wonderful day indeed Sylvia, I am so glad you are truly finding your own feet and enjoyinglife. Your surrondings and photos are just lovely. Seattle must be a wonderful place to live with the mild climate and the accessibility of so much beauty in your vicinity. In comparison we live in a desert here and beauty spots are far away.
I love the way they have alternated the rows of English Lavender with the pink veriety which does not produce as aromatic an oil but does look so pretty.

I wish I could drape myself with all of that... the blossoms, the sunset, minus the llamas, thank you!

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
