Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Since I've become so addicted to photography over the past year, I have found it fascinating to read the quotes of so many photographers and this evening I will share a few more. Many of them apply to far more than just photography.

Photography deals exquisitely with appearances, but nothing is what it appears to be. ~Duane Michals

The negative is the equivalent of the composer's score, and the print the performance. ~Ansel Adams

Everyone has a photographic memory, but not everyone has film. ~Author Unknown

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine

The fourth picture , about Smelling the Coffee.....

A thousand busy souls
up at dawn,
stretching,
smiling,
at a dark sky
shutting off
the alarm
that says
Welcome to a new day.

And she
springs up,
warm in the kitchen,
toasting here,
boiling there,
percolating,
a few wonderful cups,
bringing a flavour
to a semi dark dawn.

Curtains apart,
she glances
at the sky
and inhales....

The aroma
of the coffee
rises
palely pink
in steam
through the sky
saying,
"Sylvia,
Good morning !
Great coffee , aint it ?"....

A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby, a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety. ~Ansel Adams

The goal is not to change your subjects, but for the subject to change the photographer. ~Author Unknown

I used to take lots of pictures with my SLR, 35mm film using camera. Then life and children happened, and I took so few pictures for so long that I quit thinking about photography as something I did. Recently I started a blog, and rediscovered how much fun it is to photograph odd things (like peeling paint!). I am glad for this in many ways!
Your photos are really nice, and the words with them true.
Thanks for the visit!

Very nice shots!
No runners don't care about seeing anything but the finish line. I guarantee they couldn't careless about the monuments.

I love the line, "but not everyone has film". I sometimes think I fall into that category...

We are all Cameras,
But most of us
Still have our Lens caps on. Therefore, we can not capture the beauty of the Moment.

Human Sight is akin to getting the world in focus within a camera. For most, they have forgotten the functions on their camera, and the world has therefore become blurry.

Lovely sunsets. I like the walk through the forest photo too. Just the place for a seekend ramble.

Sylvia, I am very grateful that you have become so adicted. These are particularly lovely. Oh! That shell! And the words show such wisdom.

...not everyone has film. Hah, that´s a funny. Trouble is, film hardly exists anymore. The line just doesn´t sound the same with: ...not everyone has CCD or CMOS sensor.

I love the way you have incorporated the clouds into your compositions in two of those photographs. I tried to do something similar with rocks and trees - the outline of the mountains echoed the shape of the trees in front - but it didn't turn out nearly so well!

Good one!

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
