That's My World - Seattle From Above

Time to show your world! That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World Team of Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and myself. It's a fun way to travel the world without leaving your favorite chair. So click on the icon, sign up and join the fun!

When my birthday rolled around -- AGAIN -- two years ago, my niece from Maryland flew to Seattle and my son, Adam, surprised me with a flight in a seaplane over Seattle and the surrounding area. I had been fascinated by the seaplanes as soon as I had moved to Seattle and that morning as we were on our way to pick up my niece, I saw one landing on the water in the harbor. Little did I know that my deadpan son was having hard time hiding his grin. An hour later as we pulled into the parking lot and I saw the sign and his big smile, I was nearly jumping up and down with excitement. And because it was my birthday, I got to sit in the co-pilot's seat! What a view that was. Adam took all the shots that day and I posted some of them on my first blog, which I ended up losing, so I thought I would share them here today.
Click on any of the pics to embiggen and see more details. It was the best birthday ever! Well, of course, I say that every year!

Safeco Field -- the sports lover's dream field!

The Space Needle!

The skyline!

As you can see, we are surrounded by a great deal of water! That's why I love it!

Fantastic shots! Reminds me of my trip to Molokai -- with ONE PILOT. David worried that if the pilot died or collapsed, we would crash into the ocean. Same thing with our helicopter ride over Kauai -- just one pilot!

How fun that would be. Gonna have to look into that in June. :) Spectacular photos my friend. :) Brings back fond memories :)

I can fly over my island in less than an hour. This was fantastic post. The needle has always fascinated me so too see it from above such a different angle is great for this photographer.

I love seeing the aerial views of any region too. It totally redefines one's relationship to the landscape and how one views their own personal life.

And to be in a float plane. The best of two wonderful worlds.
