Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

For one week, go out of your way to give cheerfully. ~ Lee Jampolsky

Like
a lady
dressed to the nines,
tiara-ed in silver,
high on heels,
drunk
on the rise
in their narrow world,
windows,
glass glistening
white
in the sun, they stand
at the skyline.

Unaware,
that
the sky,
the clouds,
the land
and minds
are richer
for the
colors of warmth
in a neighborly smile,
colors of shades
of green
on a hot day,
house windows
brushing aside branches
tickling them,
and
so many
black and brown
roofs
on white
picket fence houses
of unique
shapes and sizes
that make this world
a
wonderful
colorful place......

When people are laughing, they're generally not killing each other. ~ Alan Alda

Isn't it magic when the mountains do that, Sylvia? Mount Baker can be seen from my home town (White Rock, BC) when the sky isn't completely clouded over. As the clouds begin to clear, suddenly there's a mountain rising out from amongst them. Wondrous!
Sandy is right -- Seattle does look lovely in the silvery light.
I also love your quotations, especially the one from Alan Alda, one of my favorite actors.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
