Just click on the post title, read the rules, sign up and play with us! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for? Hope you all had a wonderful and very Happy New Year! So, on this first My World for 2011 I thought I'd share a bit of my world and some thoughts about the new year!!

New Year's Day:  Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions.  Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.
~ Mark Twain
Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink and swore his last oath.  Today, we are a pious and exemplary community.  Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever.
~ Mark Twain

Many people look forward to the new year for a new start on old habits.  ~Author Unknown

A New Year's resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other.  ~Author Unknown

Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account.  ~Oscar Wilde

New Year's Eve, where auld acquaintance be forgot.  Unless, of course, those tests come back positive.  ~Jay Leno

I love the shot of the snow covered mountains, so beautiful.
I long ago gave up making resolutions other than to try and do better in all things realizing that often I will slip back to old habits.

Hi Sylvia! Did you make new resolutions? I didn't! But I wish you a great, happy and healthy new year. May all your wishes come true!
Yesterday Marina and Antigoni came to visit me with their families. They are the Greek blogging sisters. Marina has lived now in Brussels for a short time and her sister visited her for the Christmas holidays.

As usual, Mark Twain got it right with his "paving" quote...

Beautiful photos, and wise words. I don't bother with resolutions anymore, as I've never followed through on one yet. Who needs extra guilt.

And that last photo - those amazing clouds with what looks like a jet stream across them - gorgeous, Sylvia!

Love the snowy mountains and the lake, such a peaceful scene. Great shot of the resting turtle, there is only one way! Poinsettias are brilliant and the sky is in a frivolous mood. Silvia great shots. Enjoyed the quotes, and I am glad I "know" you and your blog. All the best. Trudi.

Enjoyed seeing the very dramatic sky at the end, Sylvia. And leave it to Jay Leno to come up with something funny with a serious edge to ponder. After reading all the quotes, my take is that resolutions have a VERY short shelf life!
