Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

A faith is a necessity to a man. Woe to him who believes in nothing.
Victor Hugo

Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.
Khalil Gibran

Faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservation.

Pavel Friedman's "I never saw another butterfly" poem is poignant in that it has survived the awful treatment of the poet but with those written words Friedman's spirit lives on.

I heard the other day, "One should not focus on their lack of faith but should focus on the One who is faithful" or something like that - Sorry it sounded way better when I heard it. :-(
I tried.

It seems to me that the skies of white clouds and dark clouds reflect one’s wavering thoughts between faith and doubt..., and I believe soon the dark clouds will be cleared out. The beautiful sunset is consoling and promising. Thank for you sharing, Sivlia.

Great pics and great quotes. Faith and doubt are great subjects that we all struggle with.

We are having torrential downpours down here now but my month long sinus infection is finally getting better.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
