That's My World!

That's My World is hosted each week by Klaus and the My World team, Klaus, Sandy, Wren, Fishing Guy and me. Join us and share your world with others from all over Our World! Just click on the post title, read the rules, sign up and play with us! So! How is your world this week? Have you taken time to see the beauty there? What is it about your world that makes you smile or laugh or feel grateful for?

I had hoped to have photos of the Bellevue Art Festival this week, but our trip was delayed a week, so I've gone back to look at a couple other trips that were such fun. I'll have some new photos next week! And while I was working diligently at my desk the other day I looked up to see this young man sitting outside the window in front of my desk! He looked as if he was quite curious as to just what I was doing hour after hour!!  I reached for my camera, certain he would fly away before I could get a shot! But he surprised me by posing instead!!

Feeling a bit dull
in my old age,
I flew over
Paris,
Milan,
Cologne,
and even London
searching
for that perfect makeup....

And
I finally found it
in Mumbai,
where
they have
fairness creams.

In a moment
of
narcissistic madness,
I peered into
the Sky Mirror
and
slathered it on,
only
to have it
washed off
in a
thundering
Mumbai monsoon cloudburst.

Looks like nothing black
is turning fair,
and
everything
is supposed to be fair
only
if you are flying high.

As for me,
my full throated shouts
about the creme,
have rendered
my neck
arteries and veins visible,
and the
only thing
that has changed , are my eyebrows.

Black to white ?
Gosh,
the weight of people's expectations !
I can't even raise my eyebrows !

The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win you're still a rat.
Lilly Tomlin

Hmmm! Our politicians today should be able to relate to this -- if they were honest! But by now  we all know better!!
Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.

I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.

I am going to take that first quote to heart this week (rat race) and I love your collage of open spaces. That first one with the green lawn looks familiar with the terraced stream, but I am not sure. Lovely, mon amie!

Lol … now I know for sure you have a bird’s eye view from your apartment window, Sylvia! I am especially enjoying your friend’s cheerful art this time around. The stick drawings are getting filled in nicely over time. :)

Beautiful photos. And accurate quotes - our government looks more and more like a bunch of idiots. I don't know which is worse - the politicians, or the jokers on talk radio!

Your post captures the spirit of right now. I so wish our "leaders" could get it together in the best interest of the rest of us. Hey, politicians, remember us?

The pigeon shot is remarkable, Sylvia. They are so common we don't really look at them. The Twain and Rogers quotes are perfect, even though they got my blood boiling again.

I like your collage, but the portrait of the pigeon is marvelous.

What a pleasant surprise! The visitor is so cute. Regarding politicians, is strong, competent leadership an illusion? I need a hero for my country. I love the collage and the bird picture. Stay cool, and have happy days ahead,Sylvia.

I have a hundred pigeons waiting for you to photograph. I live near door to an Indian temple. The worshippers come to feed the pigeons everyday.

The Mark Twain quip is so apt!

Lovely shots Sylvia, I think the pigeon was a masquerading dove of peace after the horrors of Norway.

I hope the week gets better as it goes along.

How very timely, looking at the headlines yesterday and today. And we call pigeons, "bird brains!" Pfffft!

Have a great week, Sylvia, and keep posting your great photos.

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
