Evening, Wisdom and Beauty and a Reason for Still More Gratitude!!

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.

Our family had another scare this week -- my son, David, had to have spinal surgery day before yesterday. He hadn't talked about the problem because our family has had some sad, scary times this year, but when he was suddenly unable to get around without crutches, he finally went to the Emergency Room. He was operated on the same day for what they call Foot Drop Syndrome. He's doing well and we're very grateful for a wonderful doctor!! Hooray! The sun is shining and we can smile again!

If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.

You really have had some bad luck in the health area in your family lately, Sylvia. Glad to hear that your son's surgery was successful. Hope this is the last of the illnesses that you see.

Lovely photos, as always.

Oh gosh Sylvia -- that last quote really says it all for your family this year. I'm so glad your son did well (and he sounds like a very good person not wanting to add to your worries... until he had to).

Hi Sylvia, Sorry about your son. Hope he will be okay.. I had 'foot drop syndrome' once---and found out it was because I was crossing my legs... I quit doing that --and it went away. That was many years ago--and I haven't had any trouble since... Crazy, huh????

Beautiful photos and quotes.
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
