It has been in the news in the past couple of days when a dozen rescuers armed with chain saws and other tools chipped away at tons of ice and snow Sunday to recover the body of a 25 year old snowboarder killed when an ice tunnel collapsed on the mountain. And a teen hiker was found safe after his family reported him missing in the Mount Hood National Forest on Friday Morning.

What a majestic mountain and how beautifully you captured the essence of it. Sad about the hiker who was killed and a relief to know the teen was safe. May you have a great day in your part of the world, Sylvia. greetings, Jo
Mountains are very imposing but dangerous too, we lost one of our princes today due to a skiing accident that occured 28 months ago. And in your post I read this: "It has been in the news in the past couple of days when a dozen rescuers armed with chain saws and other tools chipped away at tons of ice and snow Sunday to recover the body of a 25 year old snowboarder killed when an ice tunnel collapsed on the mountain."
how awful!
Spectacular views of the mountain.
Absolutely gorgeous shots. Sad when lives are claimed and good to hear when rescues are successful.
Mt Hood is breathtaking and continues to call people ....of course I read the sad (and glad) news down here a little south of you.
I was amiss in getting my blog together and found these photos online -- I have some of my own, but they were taken a number of years ago before I knew much of anything about cameras and photography!! Hopefully, when I get to make a return visit later this year I'll be able to get some good shots of my own to share with you.
Really beautiful pictures.
Gorgeous photos of Mt. Hood, Sylvia. I read alot about that mountain--which can be cruel to hikers... That's one I would NEVER EVER try---even if I were young...
Your photos are awesome.
Hugs,
Betsy
Sylvia, gorgeous shots of Mt Hood. It is pretty with the snow around the peak. I love the shot with the flowers in front and the last reflection shot is pretty. Thanks for sharing your world, have a happy week!
Such beauty always draws the adventurous ones. I am happy enough to see your beautiful photos, Sylvia.
These photos show perfectly the majestic beauty and also the potential danger that lurks within.
so beautiful and picturesque. it is not wise to take nature's power for granted.
Magnificent scenery - one can easily see why it attracts many. Thanks for sharing, Sylvia.
Though snow is far from my mind right now but these photos are stunning love it!

Great photos! You know, as I read your words about the rescuers, I thought, "That sounds like Mount Hood!" And lo and behold, it is. I have a cousin in Portland. Lots of tragedy on that mountain.
Beautiful views of the mountains, but ominous, too, in light of the accidents.
Thank you for the music and the magic.
Beautiful pics... Have a great week...
Simply stunning views!
Wonderful series of Mt. Hood's majesty!
Great shots, gorgeous soothing views! They will look good as wall hangings.
Gorgeous captures all!
The best views I've ever seen were from Hood River. These are magnificent!
You have captured a beautiful series of photos of Mt Hood - and all so very different. I especially like the flowers in the foreground.
Unreal, what an amazing set of photos ;-)
Wow, glorious views of the mount peak! but last view is more delightful.
such nice post....
What a great mountain - but, as ever, there is always a sting in the tail in places like that.
