Evening, Wisdom and Beauty In a Difficult Time

The past couple of days have been quite difficult. My children’s father has been diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and given maybe a month to live.  We’ve been divorced for many years but our inability to work through our problems back then have nothing to do with the fact that he has always been an incredible father to our four children.  He hasn’t been well for some time and it has been so hard for the kids to see their Olympic Medalist father sinking down to where he is now.  I thought I was prepared for whatever, but learning last night of the latest diagnosis has been gut wrenching.  So, tonight I was definitely looking for peace and beauty and wisdom from somewhere and realized I needed a chance to put my thoughts, feelings into words. Thank you for understanding.

In My Next Life!

I want to live my next life backwards! You start out dead and get
that out of the way right off the bat. Then, you wake up in a nursing
home feeling better every day. When you are kicked out of the home for
being too healthy, you spend several years enjoying your retirement
and collecting benefit checks. When you start work, you get a gold
watch on your first day. You work 40 years or so, getting younger
every day until pretty soon you're too young to work. So then, you go
to high school: play sports, date, drink, and party. As you get even
younger, you become a kid again. You go to elementary school, play,
and have no responsibilities. In a few years, you become a baby and
everyone runs themselves ragged keeping you happy. You spend your last
9 months floating peacefully in luxury, spa-like conditions: central
heating, room service on tap. Until finally...You finish off as an
orgasm.

We're supposed to have some more great weather this week, but we'll see -- you know how weathermen lie!! It is always so beautiful at the beach when the sun does come out -- even if it's windy and chilly! And nothing like the moon peeking through the bare limbs of the trees!! Of course for me, my world is pretty much built around my kids and Sam Schnauzer and two of my kids - Adam and his fiancee, Amber, were visiting from Portland on Saturday! What a treat! My oldest daughter in Michigan sent me a terrific walker -- it's taken me a while to admit that one would be helpful!!! Adam put it together for me so I'm ready to roll!! And, to Sam's dismay, they gave him a shampoo and a haircut!!  Ah, life is good!!

A Whole New Look at Popular Products!!! Ladies Take Notes!!

Dear Tide:

I am writing to say what an excellent product you have. I've used it all of my married life, as my Mom always told me it was the best. Now that I am in my middle years, I find it even better! In fact, about a month ago, I spilled some red wine on my new white blouse. My inconsiderate and uncaring husband started to belittle me about how clumsy I was, and generally started becoming a pain in the neck. One thing led to another and somehow I ended up with his blood on my new white blouse! I grabbed my bottle of Tide with bleach alternative, to my surprise and satisfaction, all of the stains came out! In fact, the stains came out so well the detectives who came by yesterday told me that the DNA tests on my blouse were negative. Then my attorney called and said that I was no longer considered a suspect in the disappearance of my husband. What a relief! Going through menopause is bad enough without being a murder suspect! I thank you, once again, for having a great product. Well, gotta go. I have to write to the Hefty bag people.

On a cold, gray, rainy day like today I'm looking back to those wonderful sunny days that I spent near the harbor with the blue skies and equally blue water!!!  Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

How About a Laugh to Start the Day?

A nurse was on duty in the Emergency Room when a young woman with purple hair styled into a punk rocker Mohawk, sporting  a variety of tattoos, and wearing strange clothing, entered . . . It  was quickly determined that the patient had acute appendicitis, so she was scheduled for immediate surgery.. When she was completely disrobed on the operating table, the staff noticed that her pubic hair had been dyed green and above it there was a tattoo that read . . . 'Keep off the grass.' Once the surgery was completed, the surgeon wrote a short note on the patient's dressing, which said 'Sorry . . . had to  mow the lawn.' Submitted by RN no name,                                 As a new, young MD doing his residency in OB.  I was quite embarrassed when performing female pelvic exams... To cover my embarrassment I had unconsciously formed a habit of whistling softly. The middle-aged lady upon whom I was performing this exam suddenly burst out laughing and further embarrassing me. I looked up from my work and sheepishly said.  . .. I'm sorry. Was I tickling you? '  She replied with tears running down her cheeks from laughing so hard . . . 'No doctor but the song you were whistling was . . ... ' I wish I was an Oscar Mayer Wiener .'   Dr. wouldn't submit his name..... Baby's First Doctor Visit A woman and a baby were in the doctor's examining room, waiting for the doctor to come in for the baby's first exam. The doctor arrived, and examined the baby, checked his weight, and being a little concerned, asked if the baby was breast-fed or bottle-fed. 'Breast-fed, ' she replied.. ' Well, strip down to your waist,' the doctor ordered. She did. He pinched her nipples, pressed, kneaded, and rubbed both breasts for a while in a very professional and detailed examination. Motioning to her to get dressed, the doctor said,  'No wonder this baby is underweight. You don't have any milk.' ‘I know,' she said,  'I'm his Grandma, But I'm glad I came.’

Ah, the holidays approach!  And as I was looking around my world for the things that I am thankful for, I did find a variety of things! A glorious mountain overlooking the city, my very favorite tea room, my favorite chair, my best friend, Sam and the fun of preparing for Thanksgiving and a holiday visit with two of my favorite people -- my son, Adam and his fiancee, Amber!
