Evening Words, Wisdom and Beauty

Nothing is so strong as gentleness. Nothing is so gentle as real strength.
Frances de Sales

Wisdom is divided into two parts: (a) having a great deal to say and (b) not saying it.

Fear is that little darkroom where negatives are developed.
Michael Pritchard

When nobody around you seems to measure up, it's time to check your yardstick.

Thanks for visiting my site. This is the first time on yours. I see that you have an amazing eye and express yourself so sensitively. I'll stay in touch.

Sylvia this is an amazingly beautiful post, you photos are a delight to the senses and your quotes are true truisms.
I love the analogy of fear.
First I was stunned by the waterfall, then the river of life but then came the magnificent sun bursting out of the sky that really knocked me over.

We call those smooth round coloured rocks 'lucky stones' where I come from Sylvia. Put them under crystal running water and they become magical.

These are wonderful! I thought that first one was spectacular and then I got down to the one over the ocean with the sun's ray's and oh, my goodness!

I like the words about fear. The last few sermons I've heard have been teaching that fear is a lack of faith and that goes right with your words too.

I love waterfalls and lovely streams. Thanks for great photos of both.

I, too, like the Michael Pritchard quote about fear. So true.

I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
