The clouds and the rain rolled back into Seattle this weekend -- yes! just in time for the long Labor Day weekend! Ah, well, Autumn in Seattle and in the northwest is a time of extraordinary beauty and color and that's what I'm going to share with you today. Some were taken last year -- I just got over eager because I know what's coming.
All the color you could ever hope for!
Just a hint of fall above the harbor.
And a bit down near the beach! Another favorite place minutes from where we live.
And on a drive just outside the city.
And the last is this gorgeous Japanese Maple just around the corner from our house. A huge, leafy umbrella of a tree! (From last year)

Wish we could see or feel a hint of fall around here....supposed to be 90 degrees AGAIN!
Beautiful scenery and that umbrella type of tree is way cool.
Wow! Just beautiful! We don't start to see fall colors until mid October. Love that Japanese Maple!
I figured it out - you are on the payroll for the Seattle Chamber of Commerce - Tourist Division. Are you paid commission?
Well if not the pictures are great as always. That Japanese maple has had some great nourishment, sun, and tending, one amazing tree. I wonder how old it is. My guess 30-40 years
Sylvia;
With that kind of beauty I would find it difficual to ever leave. That Maple tree...wow!
Thank you for sharing your bit of Fall. I just love fall too!
Very lovely colors all in one place. It really feels great to drive on the roads with such lovely natural colors all around.
Autumn is beautiful!
Lovely shots!
Sylvia! That Japanese Maple is so wonderful! I do have a question--are these photos from this year or a previous one? Is autumn really that advanced already in Seattle?
I've been struggling a bit with homesickness for New Hampshire just now as the season starts to change. Here in eastern New Mexico I've only seen one tree starting to turn a little golden. I remember in our little New Hampshire town there was a huge maple on the main street with one branch that turned scarlet just as school started--a sign of things to come.
On the other hand, the jays and the crickets here sound exactly the same as back East, and their message is...just wait, changes are coming!
Sylvia: You have certainly moved quickly to Fall condition after all the hot weather.
Oh how I miss seeing the fall colors. I will just have to settle for enjoying yours, Sylvia.
Thanks for sharing :)
Clariz and the rest of you. I should have said that some of these were taken last year. We are seeing some colors now, but nothing like they'll be in a few weeks. I just got excited when I saw some yellow and orange colors peeking out when I was at a park near the harbor!
Beautiful autumn colour, Sylvia. Seattle is definitely one of the places on my wishlist!
Janice.
You've put me in the mood for fall! I'm looking forward to the best photo lighting conditions of the year. Great shots Sylvia.
Wow! I so love the foliage! Beautiful colors. We are still in the 80's and 90's after the 3 digit temps the past weeks. Sigh. I will just enjoy my eyes with your beautiful photos.

Fall does seem a little early but maybe it's only my reluctance to embrace the winter that follows. What a wonderful maple tree!
I love seeing photos of fall. Autumn here just means the high temperature may be the low 80's instead of the low 90's. Very little color change and how I miss it! Thanks for sharing!
Fantastic shots of so much beauty. I love Autumn! We are started to have small changes signally that it's ahead.
What gorgeous colors! I especially liked the maple tree and its golden canopy.
This is a beautiful beginning of autumn, which is colouring the trees so wonderfully! Thanks!
Beautiful scenery Sylvia!!
Lovley colours :)
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts it warms my heart!
Have a nice tuesday :)

I love Australia, but I DO miss all the glorious colours!Evergreens are great and I don't want your winters, but I swoon whenever I see 'Autumn tints' on the TV.
Your colors are gorgeous. That last tree is amazing. I noticed a tinge of color, but not like this. Beautiful place, Sylvia!
Great colours and I'm sure you will get some wonderful new pics this year too, but it can't be that time already....can it?
Have a great week!
Your fall colors are beautiful! I always look forward to the aspens changing around here. Only a few weeks to wait!
What amazing views Sylvia! I love the turning of the leaves... was sad to see summer end but am now looking forward to all that comes with fall. Thank you for sharing. The Japanese maple is gorgeous.
That top photo is simply stunning, Sylvia. I would enlarge and frame it. There are so many vibrant colors in it. I also love the Harbor shot and the Red Maple tree.
Such loveliness! Hope I can spend more time in you neck of our USA woods. So much beauty there.
I have to say I am more than ready for Fall myself Sylvia. It looks like a stunning season in your area.
I love your pictures but I love the first and the last pics the most. Oh, would love the have that maple tree nearby always:)
My World is here.
Your leaves are turning colors already!!!! It's always something I look forward to this time of year.
The last orange cloud of a tree was brilliant!

Hi Sylvia, I love the changing colors of all your deciduous trees. Our aspens here in CO are turning golden very quickly this fall.
