Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Most men pursue pleasure with such breathless haste that they hurry past it.
~Soren Kierkegaard

Pleasure is the flower that passes; remembrance, the lasting perfume.
~Jean de Boufflers

Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into. ~Henry Beecher, Life Thoughts, 1858

Can we conceive what humanity would be if it did not know the flowers? ~Maurice Maeterlinck

Bread feeds the body, indeed, but flowers feed also the soul. ~The Koran

Found myself rereading in Wikipedia about Kierkegaard, an incredible character who I had to learn a little about now so many years ago. No one challenged the the relationship between faith and doubt like that guy. Thanks for reminding me of him tonight.

I love the flower photos but that first one of the sun's rays piercing the skies is just fantastic.

You always do such a fantastic job with these. I love the first and fourth ones. Well done. By the way, did you hit the panic button on the blog with Why Christmas Trees are better than women? YIKES!!! Scary LOL

I remember telling my son at one time that if I had only a dollar to my name, and had to choose between a loaf of bread of a bunch of flowers, I would choose the flowers.

I like them all but the second one is my favorite and so is the second quote. I wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year. Love and hugs, Judy

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
