Evening, Wisdom and Beauty

Children have neither past nor future; they enjoy the present, which very few of us do. ~Jean de la Bruyere

What a distressing contrast there is between the radiant intelligence of the child and the feeble mentality of the average adult. ~Sigmund Freud

A child's world is fresh and new and beautiful, full of wonder and excitement. It is our misfortune that for most of us that clear-eyed vision, that true instinct for what is beautiful and awe-inspiring, is dimmed and even lost before we reach adulthood. ~Rachel Carson

My childhood may be over, but that doesn't mean playtime is. ~Ron Olson

Hello Sylvia, what lovely pictures! I can't get over the blue and white flowers. May your week be as lovely as the scenes you shared.

Lovely, serene photos. They calm my soul. I love the children quotes. I work at a Waldorf inspired school where the innocence, wonder and inquisitiveness of the child is embraced and nurtured.
Have a great week, Sylvia. I'll be away for a few weeks and will re-connect when I return.

The bunch of white flowers is like a bride surrounded by her bridesmaids. Are these spring flowers. can't imagine spring when I watch on TV all the snow in washington.

....MAGIC HARBOR....how wonderful it is.....it's surrounding is breathtaking...the ambience...the sailboats waiting....!!

Oh yes; children are living in the "present"...I experience it every day (!) and together with the boys I do enjoy this way of "living intense today" so very much...!

GORGEOUS SKY-IMAGINES, cara Sylvia!
Have a happy week!!
ciao ciao elvira

Well, we grow up and become bogged down by responsibility. Only artists can remain child like.

I like the Freud quote. I don't find children dull. Inquisitiveness is such a shiny attribute

You always find the most appropriate quotes to go with your pictures -- or is it the other way around. In any case it is always a pleasure and inspiration to visit your Evening, Wisdom and Beauty posts. Thanks for sharing these with us.

beautiful photos on this post, Sylvia! that one with the purple flowers is sooo pretty! Such a happy photo with great colors. The willow in that first photo I really like too...the light makes it look like a bunch of feathers.

It is wonderful to see the world through the eyes of a child. Breathtaking images!

What Can I Say?

What Can I Say?
I'm interested in almost everything. Use to like to travel, but it's too expensive now. I take Tai Chi classes, swim, volunteer in a Jump-start program for pre-schoolers. I'm an avid reader and like nearly everyone these days I follow politics avidly. I'm a former teacher and Special Projects Coordinator for a Telecommunications company, Assistant to the President of a Japanese silicon wafer manufacturing company. Am now enjoying retirement -- most of the time. I have two daughters, one son-in-law and two sons scattered all over the country. No grandchildren.
